New Apologetics MP3s here. I haven’t listened to them yet, so no guarantees on orthodoxy… HOWEVER, the fact that they host any talks at all, including a talk on Humanae Vitae, strikes me as being a good sign.

Catholic Rap by “The Apologist” (click the music link at the bottom of the page):
catholic-rap.com/
(I was skeptical…but it’s really good, even if you don’t like rap!)
So I swapped some e-mails with this guy, and he’s really nice. He’s part of Miles Jesu, and is currently doing missionary work.

If you would like, you can e-mail him and ask him to send you some MP3s of his latest stuff (he sent me about 15 new tracks). In return, he’ll ask for a small donation through Miles Jesu to help keep him doing God’s work in the vinyard. He can send them by CD or by e-mail (as long as your e-mail can handle the file size).

If you’ve got an extra couple of bucks, it’s well worth it. PM me if you want his contact info.

For those who haven’t listened, most of his music is a hip-hop beat laid down on top of a classical liturgical piece (sometimes instrumental, sometimes chant, sometimes choral). He then rhymes over the top of it. Somehow he manages to make it seemlessly integrated. If you go to the link above, you can check out three tracks for free to see what I mean.

God Bless,
RyanL

“Christ and Culture: The strangeness of the Catholic American situation” by Mr. Joseph Bottum, editor of First Things journal

The Archbishop’s annual Lecture Series kicks off its spring season with a compelling presentation by Joseph Bottum, editor of First Things, the nation’s leading journal of religious dialogue in the public and political sphere. Bottum’s lecture will consider how Catholic ideas regarding just war and religious participation in the public square have impacted recent American social and political life.

I found the following website when looking for an easy to understand explanation of Lent for my roommate. I spent some time myself surfing the site, and I saw it has some really easy Lenten recipes (among other things), so I thought I’d share it here. The site is catholicculture.org/.

I stumbled across this debate,
padfield.com/acrobat/greeson/catholic.pdf
and then the review of this debate,
padfield.com/debates/greeson_1.html

I was wondering about the points made on this debate, and whether the Catholic Apologist Bill Rutland is well-known or not and how reliable is he.

In the review they are for Greenson, and so it seems that he had the upperhand.
Does anyone here think the same?

And how about the unanswered claims, such as that the Church Fathers do not have anything proving the Papacy of Peter…?

The debate can be found in this page, too, in mp3 formats.

RyanL!! Thanks so much for that post! The new episodes of season two just went up last night. I HIGHLY recommend the Culture of Death episode - it is really very very good. I have not heard the podcast version, but I was in the control booth during the taping of the tv show version, and it was all I could to do not cry and concentrate on what I was doing.

Keep checking back - the webmaster is working hard to get the rest of season two (13 episodes total) in podcast format and up on the site.

Thanks again RyanL! 😃

I just discovered a treasure chest full of resources to enable us to study and defend our Catholic Faith and I wanted to share this with everyone. It’s a new program developed by two fellow Catholics and what a blessing it is, just check out the wealth of information available to us on this new CD,and at a price everyone can afford…What a Gift!!

Fellowship Of Catholic University Students

Talks by Dr. Ed Sri, Curtis Martin, Dr. Jonathan Reyes, John Zimmer, Sean Innerst, Tim Gray
Milimac, OK, now’s the time to show my ignorance. Is there anyway to save these files for later? Or can you only listen to them on-line.

I love to listen to talks such as these while driving. Cell-phone MP3’s are great!!!
