The Devil Wears Prada is a christian band that doesnt swear or talk about sex, but they don’t really sing about Jesus if that’s what your looking for. Attack Attack is a secular band that has christian themes in many of their songs and isn’t offensive. Avenged Sevenfold got their name from the Bible and they reference the Bible many times. Iron Maiden’s drummer is a born again Christian and the band makes many references to the Bible as well:thumbsup: Three Days Grace is a Christian hard rock band thats pretty good. thats just my:twocents: oh and secular rock isnt bad

Dude, 3DG is not a Christian band, some of their songs are positive but they’re not Christian, they are a very good secular band though.
 
One of my favorite (Protestant) Christian metal bands is Deliverance. I recommend their first two CDs (self-titled and Weapons of Our Warfare). They have a song called “23,” which is the 23rd Psalm arranged into a metal-type ballad. Really cool!

Also, Stryper did a hard rock arrangement for “Amazing Grace.” It’s called “10,000 Years.”
 
Are there any Catholic epic doom metal bands playing stuff in the vein of Candlemass? Or at least Christian if not Catholic?
 
Not a lot of Catholic rock bands out there but here is my list of Christian bands that I listen to, many are Protestant but to me the message is the same.

Some are heavier some are pop but I enjoy them all. 👍
 
I didn’t read through all of them so sorry if someone already said this, but Critical Mass is AMAZING. Not really metal but they have some harder tunes. And they are Catholic too.
 
My brother just came across this band:

Effa Tha

They are a Catholic Croatian power metal band. In listening to the few tracks they have an MySpace, they’re not half bad. Of course, they don’t sing in English, but that doesn’t really bother me.
 
Even though the Newsboys are a Christian band, their guitarist, Jody Davis, is Catholic. He has a self titled solo album out. It has a late 70’s/early 80’s rock sound (Tom Petty’s earlier stuff comes to mind, Todd Rungren, early Chicago, Donnie Iris) (I call it road trip rock) guitar driven music but with brass incorporated into it giving it a funky sound. I have to say that the Newsboys also have a heavier sound. There last three albums “Go”, “In the Hands of God”, and “Born Again” (I’ve only heard one song from “BornAgain” but it seems to be following in the same footsteps as the other two) are more guitar driven and harder. Of course they still have a few funky songs with the coolest hooks on their albums. For harder rock music, most of the other bands I listen to are Christian bands such as Pillar, Kutless, P.O.D., Switchfoot, and Sanctus Real. There are heavier Christian rock bands out there but I’m not familiar with their music. Good luck with your search.

Not sure what Candlemass sounds like, but Cavaleiros Consagrados is sort of doom metal.
 
In my never ending search for Christian metal that sounds good to my ear I found a band called War of Ages.

Not sure if they’ve been mentioned here before or not but I’m a fan 👍
 
As far as I know Bon Jovi is a Catholic band except for the pianist… is Jewish.

Jon Bon Jovi, lead vocalist of his band Bon Jovi, been seen in St. Patrick’s Cathedral with Mark Wahlberg taking communion and wearing a St. Benedict’s rosary. In a recent interview, he said he has returned to the religion of his parents.

I also noticed Richie Sambora, lead guitarist of Bon Jovi, was wearing a St Benedict rosary around his neck in a concert. He also has a tattoo of a cross on his left arm, with a sunrise behind it, and the words “God” and “Faith” above and below it.

i have always wondered about Bon jovi and i really hope he has accepted Jesus as his saviour … i have never heard that Jon bon jovi has been to church nor have i heard that he is going back to being catholic…could somebody tell me what site that interview is from
 
This is an interesting thread. I guess I am kind of square and not “with it” when it comes to Catholic Rock band’s. Maybe I can locate a CD from one of these band’s as a gift for my Grandson. He likes to listen to old Beatles recording’s. 🤷
 
Hi! Well I’m new here, been trying to find good Catholic hardcore or post-hardcore or screamo bands to listen to…

Some of my faves right now are, (they’re Christian or some of the guys in the band are Christian, but not Catholic):

Catholic rock music? The Thirsting! 😃

Their first album is called Companions of the Lamb.

They have a new release that just came out this month. It’s titled Universal Youth.

I heard these guys live. They pretty much rock. 😉
