I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who said, “when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” 😦
Which is why liberals (as opposed to adherents of 19th century liberalism) love to brag about how much they love America during speeches in churches.

Thanks for the correction (I knew someone would know who it was), which is why I said “I think” instead of “I know” or “It was”. 😛

To be clear, that’s attributed to him, however haveing never read any of his work to any extent beyond skimming I really can’t say

In case you didn’t want to read all this, I’ll summarize.

Bush=Hitler.

My word, what an original thought!

Not to mention useful, constructive, and insightful.
Bush=Hitler?? Go to the Right to Life web site and see what the last 4 presidents have done for life…(doesnt seem to be a Hitler to me)…the war is debatable, thou I believe the world is better off without Saddam in power.

What “consolidation of powers” are you referring to? Can you provide a list, please, along with a reference to the congressional legislation that authorized them. Reference to Supreme Court decisions upholding them would be useful too.

(I guess I have been asleep for 7 years. Well, I did quit watching TV news a while back.).
Please wake up now, for time is very short. You will not hear the truth on the main stream media regarding the political agenda in this country. The reason why is food for another thread.

**Much legislation has been passed recently that is eroding our Constitutional rights. ** It is essential that every voting American should be aware of what is happening in this country. Please check out the following links and………please don’t forget to pray for America! It’s almost too late!

The John Warner National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) essentially eliminates the protections of the Posse Comitatus Act and re-writes the Insurrection Act.

The Military Commissions Act is signed into law and Habeas Corpus is suspended allowing the president to declare you an “enemy combatant” which would end your rights to seek legal relief from unlawful imprisonment.

Essential reading for every voting American is:
**Fascist America, in 10 easy steps **– by Naomi Wolf. Although she is a feminist and a liberal, it does not invalidate her credentials or the basic message she touts:

There are several organizations (some of them authored by constitutional lawyers who are fighting to restore our Constitutional liberties.)

One such organization is We the People Congress, which is specifically trying to get the federal government to honor a little remembered clause of the First Amendment, “The right to petition the government for redress of grievances.”

Do you think the current presidential party has taken these steps of executive consolidation as a direct form of Fascism/control?
I don’t think it restricted to any one party but the two together act as one in this regard which is why i see littel difference between them. I think it started in ernest back in the early 1900’s. The 1960’s saw a big step in that direction and after 2001 we stumbled over the cliff in giving our federal government that control.

Some things seem logical and legitimate at first but in reality they go against the very nature of our Constitution and common sense. This includes but is not limited to the UN (League of nations before that), the WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA, and World Bank, with homegrown political groups like the CFR and the Federal Reserve.

We now go to war for UN resolutions (See Bosnia, Viet Nam, Iraq I, and Iraq II, Korea…) instead of Congressional approval as specified by Article 1 Section 8. We adjust our international trade tariffs at the request/demand of multi-national businesses and foreign governments rather than American businesses and interests to include our manufacturing base, and farmers.

It will not be as big a step to join the US, Canada, and Mexico like the EU has done in europe in the name of competition and security. Under the current circumstances I see that as a very bad thing.

What happened in the news or in the Democrat talking points that all of a sudden there are so many threads on fascism?

Now, I’ve heard this a lot and I haven’t formed an opinion on it. I am just searching and trying to get an idea of what is going on.

Do you think the current presidential party has taken these steps of executive consolidation as a direct form of Fascism/control?

Right now, I am still searching for that sign of deliberate malice. I am stuck so far on a vague feeling that this happened due to short-sightedness, and that we are now going to face horrible consequences from the new president.
hasikelee: In addition to the links provided above in a previous post I made today, please know that the “deliberate malice” you speak of has been going on for nearly 100 years as a planned agenda. Read fast, very very fast, to the information contained, not in the MSM, for you will never find the truth from them, but in alternate sources of truth; mainly the internet and the current events section of your local book store. (Be discerning as authors write books for a variety of reasons)…may I recommend one entitled, “Takeover, The Return of the Imperial Presidency and the Subversion of American Democracy” by pulitzer prize winner, Charlie Savage? He outlines just how the constitutional checks and balances we had at one time have now been altered.

Just check out the legislation that has been passed over the last couple of years (links provided above in another post) - everyone is trying to sound the alarm…it is very serious, and this is, after all, an election year with the push toward global government by both Republicans and Democrats.

The end is nigh! The end is nigh!
