An anti catholic protestant told me Constatine played a big role integrating Roman paganism into the “Christian” church.

How do you prove that statement to be false?

I would ask them to name something.

Or just not worry about it, as it’s likely they will just dismiss any evidence as somehow ‘corrupted’ and if that were the case, then how then can they suddenly see such ‘errors’ about 1,300 years later during the protestant reformation?

Constantine the Great is a favorite point for both Protestants and Atheists alike and they all disagree to what degree they think Constantine corrupted Christianity, the Atheist claims Constantine invented it, while the Protestant claims Constantine corrupted it. Neither of them are correct, Constantine did not meddle, in fact, he was not Baptized until his death.

If Constantine the Great did invent it or meddle in it, surely he would have given himself a greater role or position in it and not waited until his death to even be baptized. And for those who claim he did, then what did he change exactly?

God Bless You

You’d need to ask them to provide some examples before we can help. In my experience, though, it boils down to “whatever the reformers disagreed with, were Roman inventions created by Constantine”.

So they think Constantine added all the books in the bible that were written in greek?

Different denominations believe in different things. The common theme I’ve noticed is that “God preserved certain truths” while “allowing errors”.

as i understand it; constantine had a vision of the crucifix before a major battle

he ordered his troops to make crosses on their shields vice whatever pagan nonsense emblems were there previously; won a major victory and the rest is

These arguments are ridiculous. Tell him to learn that words don’t establish the meaning of what is symbolized. I told a guy who was trying to convince I was worshipping ishtar because I was celebrating Easter. I told him I know what I am celebrating. I’m celebrating the Resurrection of Christ no matter what it’s called. Words are migratory over time history wars assimilating cultures.etc. A word may symbolize a concept today and a different concept in 50 years.

Also. Some protestants believe Jesus never created any organized religion, supposedly he created a metaphorical church. And they also believe the “Church” he created is a metaphor for the people that are baptized and saved, not a building. I know this isn’t true but what is the rebuttal?

You can’t prove something that never happened. Instead, the burden of proof is upon the person making the assertion to bring evidence. Have the person prove to you that this happened.

How were the disciples to bring their disputes and “tell it to the Church” if it was invisible?

How did Ananias and Sapphira know where to bring their donation?

odd, to build His Church on rock. It isn’t a good metaphor for a church built on a metaphor Built on a mist would be better.

I heard from some people that he created December 25 as Christmas Day when Jesus was not born in December.
Is this true?

Close. It was the Chi-Rho (Monogram of Christ) with ‘In Hoc Signo Vinces’ (In this sign you will conquer) and thus Constantine and his army won decisive battles against his pagan rivals in the empire bearing the Chi-Rho, then he established the edict of Milan which stopped the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire. Later Licinius went against this treaty and started persecuting Christians, then there was another major battle against Licinius where Constantine won the decisive victory bearing the Chi-Rho to become the sole ruler of the Roman Empire.

The First Council of Nicaea was held under Constantine the Great’s rule in the empire, where Christianity was legal. Wikipedia and other sources, like the protestants and atheists all claim that Constantine meddled and put his own thing into it, whatever that ‘thing’ is exactly they don’t say, seems to be whatever they want it to be, the atheist claims the divinity of Christ was made up here (rather then reaffirmed), the protestant, whatever they are protesting and whoever else, whatever it is that they don’t accept.

The Council of Nicaea is where we get the Nicene Creed that we say at Mass to this day.

God Bless

The Church is the mystical Body of Christ.

Now let me ask you.

Was the Incarnation visible?

Why would you want to prove the statement false? It doesn’t tend to make any point that opposes the Catholic Church. Is the suggestion supposed to be that no aspect of Roman paganism was at all compatible with Christianity? How could THAT claim be substantiated?

John 20:21-23 tells us that Jesus gave the Apostles the power to forgive and retain sins. He didn’t give this power to every single Christian. Jesus meant for people to go to the Apostles and confess their sins. Does this not sound like a trait of an organized Church?
Repectfully opinion and questioning such.

Jesus taught the Lord’s Prayer>it begins with Our Father.

Within the Lord’s Prayer we first ask our Heavenly Father to >>>>>Forgive us our transpasses (sins or offenses against God, then we confess to our Heavenly Father) >>>>>As we have forgiven those who have transpassed against us…

Jesus preaches and teaches> To Forgiven one another, as I have forgiven you! Forgive those who have offended us and to ask for forgiveness of those whom we have offended also?

Forgive our brothers sisters 7 X 77 x times…
Jesus gives us all the power to forgive sins of one another offenses against us and within the Lord prayer we go directly before when saying the Our Father>>>>>confessing and asking HIM to forgive us our transpasses or transgressions against us?

Even before we come before Him, do so first in forgiving ones brother?? Peace

According to scripture, who is the cornerstone of the church?
