Does anyone know as to who and which book began to perpetuate this myth and its history?
How do you know that? There is some truth to it.
Interestingly enough, it was not actually Constantine who ended the persecutions, it was his predecessor, Galerius, with the Edict of Toleration in 311. That ended the Diocletian persecutions.Jesus founded the catholic church, Constatntine gave his protection to the church ending persecutions…He made a decision that ‘legalized’ the catholic church and he supported it personally He wasn’t baptized until his death’God bless![]()
And it testifies to two things. The first is that baptism washes away sins. It shows it a sacrament. The other that sin after baptism matters. Some hold to the error that you can sin after baptism and you are covered because you have been baptized. The argument of the death bed baptism would be valid, except that it was a fairly commom practice to act as a final measure to insure forgiveness.
