Hi,

could you please say a prayer for me, cause I’m almost constantly being tempted with blasphemous thoughts 😦 I went to Confession this morning and after Confession they always get worse, as if the devil tries extra hard to get me to sin again. When I choose the thoughts (out of weakness), this prevents me from receiving Communion…but that’s what I need most. I’m afraid that I’ll fall again by tomorrow and would not be able to receive the Eucharist. This has been going on for a month now… please say a prayer for me that God would give me the strength to not sin today and that I wouldn’t be afraid - cause that makes it worse.

Thank you!!

PRAYER OF
SAINT GEMMA GALGANI
O my crucified God,
behold me at Your feet;
do not cast me out,
now that I appear before You as a sinner.
I have offended You exceedingly in the past,
my Jesus, but it shall be so no longer.

Before You, O Lord, I place all my sins;
I have now considered Your own sufferings
and see how great is the worth
of that Precious Blood that flows from Your veins.

O my God, at this hour close Your eyes to my want of merit,
and since You have been pleased to die for my sins,
grant me forgiveness for them all,
that I may no longer feel the burden of my sins,
for this burden, Dear Jesus,
oppresses me beyond measure.

Assist me, my Jesus,
for I desire to become good whatsoever it may cost;
take away, destroy, utterly root out all that You find in me
contrary to Your holy will.
At the same time, I pray You, Lord Jesus,
to enlighten me that I may be able to walk in Your holy light.

Amen.

Thank you, Mary. I too needed that.

Monica - I too have seen the devil really pushing hard on me lately. I think he has a special thing for us “pre-seminarians.” A thought that really helps me is knowing that whatever these thoughts are or whatever they lead too will never make me happy. It will only cause more stress and push me away from Jesus. Maybe that just works for my crazy mind, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to post.

God Bless you in your journey. You’re in my prayers.

-Matt

For Monica to stay strong and be at peace.

A DAILY PRAYER
BEFORE DAILY MASS
(By Saint Ambrose)
O gracious Lord Jesus Christ,
though I, who am a sinner,
in nowise presume on any merits of my own,
and put all my trust in Thy goodness and mercy,
yet do I fear and tremble in drawing near to the Table
on which is spread Thy banquet of all delights.
Many a sin has sullied me in body and in soul
because I did not restrain my thoughts nor guard my lips:
nevertheless it is to Thee,
O God of majesty and love,
that I turn in my extremity,
for Thou art the fount of mercy;
to Thee, as quickly as I may, I speed:
for Thou alone canst heal me;
I take refuge under Thy protection.
I dare not face Thee as my judge,
but I cleave to Thee as my saviour.
Thy mercy is above all Thy works.
Though I fear, because of my sins,
yet I trust in Thee on account of Thy mercy.
Turn, then, those pitiful eyes of Thine upon me, O Jesus Christ,
our everlasting king and Lord,
Who art God and man,
and Who for man wast crucified.
Have mercy upon me,
full of misery and of sin though I be, upon me,
whose only hope is in Thee,
because of Thy loving-kindness.
Hail! Thou saving victim,
offered up for me and for all mankind upon the gibbet of the cross!
Hail! thou glorious and most Precious Blood,
that flowest from the wounds of Jesus Christ,
my crucified Lord;
to wash away the sins of all the world!
Forget not, O Lord,
that I am one of those whom Thou hast created,
and with Thine own blood hast redeemed.
I repent me of my sins:
I will strive to amend my ways.
O most merciful Father,
put far from me all my iniquities and all my offences;
so that, by Thee made whole in body and in soul,
I may be accounted worthy to approach the Holy of holies.
Grant, in fine, that the holy foretaste of Thy body and blood,
which thou vouchsafest to me, a poor sinner,
may be a pledge of the full remission of my sins
and of the washing away for evermore of all my guilt.
From my mind may it chase away every sinful thought:
in my will may it foster all holy desires:
may it spur me on to the doing of works well-pleasing to Thee;
and may it be to me, of body and of soul,
a very sure protection and defence against the craft of all my enemies.

Amen.

A PRAYER BEFORE MASS (TUESDAY)
(By Saint Ambrose)
Who can worthily be present at this Sacrifice,
unless Thou, O God, makest him worthy?
I know, O Lord, yea, truly do I know,
and this do confess to Thy loving-kindness,
that I am unworthy to approach so great a Mystery,
by reason of my numberless sins and negligences;
but I know, and truly with my own heart do I believe,
and with my mouth confess,
that Thou canst make me worthy,
who alone canst make that clean
which proceedeth from that which is unclean,
and sinners to be just and holy.
By this Thine Almighty power I beseech Thee, O my God,
to grant that I, a sinner,
may assist at this Sacrifice with fear and trembling,
with purity of heart and plenteous tears,
with spiritual gladness and heavenly joy.
May my mind feel the sweetness of Thy most blessed Presence,
and the love of Thy holy Angels,
keeping watch around me.

Amen.

“Put on the armor of God, that you may be able
to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Saint Michael Prayer
Saint Michael the Archangel,

defend us in the day of battle.

Be our safeguard against the

wickedness and the snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him we humbly pray

and do thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host,

cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits

who prowl throughout the world

seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen

“And in all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer,
believing, you shall receive.”
-Matt 21:22

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Thank you everyone!! 🙂

things have been going better, except today during Mass the devil attacked me so much that I gave in and wasn’t able to receive the Eucharist once more 😦

however God also gave me a lot of grace. I feel a great desire to not sin anymore… and He strengthened my will as well. But I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep this up. I’m trying to simply make a decision to resist these thoughts and stick to it. My problem is that my will is weak and after a while I give in again. Please pray with me that God would make me stronger and help me to keep my resolution. I can’t do this on my own at all, I really need His help.

I’ll also go to Confession - these thoughts are really horrible - and hopefully it won’t happen again. I know that’s a lot to hope for - this has been going on for a month and it’s not likely it will suddenly end today - but I need to believe this because whenever my faith gets weaker the temptations come back. I know God can do anything…if it is His will

Monica…my prayers are with you. I struggle too sometimes, I think the devil works overtime during Lent! :o Hang in there…and know you’re in all of our prayers…for strength and courage to keep fighting the good fight. :console:

Prayers for Hope and Comfort
Prayer Attributed to St. Augustine
Watch, dear Lord, with those who wake or watch or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend your sick ones, O Lord Jesus Christ, rest your weary ones, bless your dying ones, soothe your suffering ones, shield your joyous ones, and all for your love’s sake. Amen.

Let Nothing Disturb You
Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten you. All things pass. God does not change. Patience achieves everything. Whoever has God lacks nothing. God alone suffices.
God has no body now on earth but yours; no hands but yours; no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ must look out on the world. Yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which He is to bless His people.
Amen.
(St. Teresa of Ávila)

thank you everyone!!! 🙂

God helped me to make a decision to not sin anymore and after this the attacks have stopped…

however…now the enemy is trying a new thing and attacking me with LOTS of pride 😦 rather…the pride is in me, and always was, but now I’m being tempted to choose my pride/my will over God, and reject Him, out of pride/anger. I was humiliated in a way earlier today, and ever since I realized that pride was involved, I feel I’m being tempted to the same sin as the devil committed. wow I really don’t know if I have the strength for this 😦 but I don’t want to give in at all. I think I’ll go pray the Rosary now for humility. Please continue praying for me… I’ve never been so spiritually attacked in my life as in the last few weeks… thanks soo much!!

Monica4316 I have a similar problem where my temptations are greatest after I have confessed my sins, but it is getting better. It took a lot of prayers, talking w/ my priest, & the support of my Church - it took at least two years in my case. The temptations still come, but w/ Our Lord’s help, Mary’s intercessions and the prayers of my guardian angel and saints the temptations have been easier to over come.

Holy Spirit please give Monica4316 the strength to resist sin. Blessed Mother intercede on her behalf, in Jesus’ Name I pray :crossrc:

Peace & all good
