The ‘overlap’ will always infringe upon sacred conscience.

(P.S. I am not allowed to post anymore today, so my further responses will have to wait a ‘day’.)

There are always going to be points of contention.

Abortion comes to mind

There is no way, that the US Congress with the various members, Jewish, Catholic, Protestant and Atheists, will ever agree to ban all abortions.

So, there will have to be some level of compromise, which is what we’re seeing. Abortion after viability, except to save the life of the mother, regulation is acceptable for most.

Banning abortion before viability, will never get passed, regardless of how much we Catholics kick and scream about it.

It will never happen here on earth before the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ

However, even then, there will be many so-called devote Catholics who will reject Jesus, because he didn’t return according to their ideas.

i agree; it is not "American’ or “democratic” for that matter

Never !

Most of the Catholic Monarchs of the past were essentially evil

What makes you suppose that human nature would make such a state better today ?

Jim

Liberal history textbooks ?

So you believe Queen (Bloody) Mary who sought to restore the Catholic Monarchy was made up by anti-Catholics ?

Just as clarification, I meant the OP sarcastically on the occasion of Constitution Day.
You know, I made my comment about unconstitutionality in jest since I knew you were joking. I didn’t think this thread would turn so serious.

Furthermore, the duty of the state is to work toward the common good, and thus it is necessary to execute obstinate, unrepentant heretics, but only if they interfere with the social order by spreading their errors. The duty of the state is to enact justice in that regard.
You can’t be serious !

Wait, I get it now, you’re joking and I fell for it. HAHAAHA !

don’t worry; this thread will be mod-locked shortly 😦

A 16th century Papal Bull ?

Try getting up to date with what the Church teaches today
