I have just posted a prayer request elsewhere on this forum for the success of my new (first) commercial CD release today.
As a professional musician, a friend of mine gave me the idea that I should pray a novena to St Cecilia, and so I am hoping that, in addition to your supporting me in your prayers you will help me to construct this novena. As I pray whatever prayers you contribute I shall post the final form of my devotion on my blog: levavi.blogspot.com/
I have posted here because I don’t know whether there are ‘norms’ for constructing a novena? I am sure people on this thread will have some good ideas…
Meantime, the prayers I have found are:
Oratio.
Deus, qui nos ánnua beátæ Cæcíliæ Vírginis et Mártyris tuæ solemnitáte lætíficas: da, ut, quam venerámur offício, étiam piæ conversatiónis sequámur exémplo. Per Dóminum nostrum Iesum Christum Filium tuum, qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus, per omnia sæcula sæculórum. Amen.
Translation:
Collect.
O God, who makest us glad with the yearly solemnity of blessed Cecilia, thy Virgin and Martyr: grant, that as we do venerate her in our service, so we may follow the example of her godly conversation. Through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lod: Who livest and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
Also, I have found:
Lord Christ, who didst bestow such fortitude on thy holy virgin Cecily that she overcame the world and the flesh, and made haste to die for thee: at her intercession, kindle in us the flame of thy love, so that we may be neither tempted by fleshly lust nor beguiled by the allurements of the world. Amen.
