I am overwhelmed and breathe anxiety as air. Always haunted by the possibility of my dad having huntingtons disease, my moms severe mental health disorder and severe kidney problems… being an only child not knowing how to care for them. Also newly married to the most wonderful husband but who is also an undocumented immigrant. Severe social anxiety, very likely depression but fear of psycholigists (dont want meds) and isolated myself from friends and family. Mostly because of anxiety and also fear of them finding out my husbands legal status. Constant scrupolosity, guilt, and confusion at how I should live my life. Either I neglect all my needs to fully take care of others or completely withdraw to heal myself. Also even though I have the best husband I struggle constantly with jealousy and feelig like Im not good enough for him. I want children for us someday but so scared if it were to happen now because of everything above. I am just going back to school while hubby works 30 hrs as cook. I feel like the devil plays my anxiety as a puppet. Ill pray and feel peace then two hours later forget and get paralyzed in fear and guilt. Please please help :’(

When you feel anxiety coming over you, reach out to Our Lord, His blessed mother, and the saints. Ask that protection come over you, and that your anxiety be eased. Know that there is a peace in prayer, and putting your issues into Our Lord’s hands. He will be with you in strength and support.

I’ll continue to pray for you, as will others here.

Lord, please hear our prayers.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

I’m praying for you to not feel so overwhelmed, newcatholicwife.

I just wanted to also say that you can more than likely take some kind of action to help with your husband’s citizenship status. I would think that simply by virtue of you being married to him that he must have some sort of automatic residency rights. You didn’t mention if you’re American, but I believe in this country the laws are more or less along those lines. Feel free to private message me; maybe I can help figure out at least the initial steps in the residency/citizenship process. And, again, I will be praying for you.

Praying.

I also have social anxiety and I find that sometimes you have to force yourself to do things you don’t want to, and then you have panic attacks and tears later, but you end up killing the anxiety bit by bit as you enter painful situations and slowly develop the ability to deal with people. I’m still working on it, but I encourage to find small ways to confront your fears and douse your deeds with prayer and contemplation. Be prepared and think about what you will do if this or that happens, how will you react and what will you think. And focus on God. It makes me anxious just to tell you this because I’m afraid it will be counterproductive and not helpful at all. But, I’m telling you anyway. Perhaps this can serve as an example for you then.

As Exiled Child said, it would heal a lot of your anxiety to start taking the steps to make your husband a legal citizen. You wouldn’t have to hold that secret in from everybody or be concerned about your future children. Do the right thing for your family and get that taken care of. God bless.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility and
Mother of Hope,
look upon me in this time
of disquiet and weakness.
Still my restless spirit,
teach my searching heart to know
that God’s love for me
is unchanging and that the suffering
which He may will for me now
is to draw me closer to Him.
Let thy gentle peace and His —
which the world cannot give —
be always with me, that I may
be sanctified: and then:
I beseech thee
for the grace to bring this
peace to others.
Jesus, My Savior, I give myself
entirely to Thee through Mary:
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
pray for me!
Amen.
