I’m thinking perhaps you mean ‘Celebration’ of marriage, the actual ceremony, in which case you are right, there are no weddings in Lent.

Consummation means the coming together in one flesh of man and bride in the way that babies are made, and can be at any time of year that the couple chooses.🙂

It’s a simple formality to get a dispensation from this rule. I was married in Lent because I had got a job thousands of km away from my fiancee so we decided to bring our wedding forward from September. We also got a dispensation from the abstinence rule so that we all at meat at the wedding dinner.
 
Its more of a disipline then a hard rule from what I understand.

This past CAF thread also notes the general discouragement of weddings during Lent.

Weddings are certainly not allowed during Holy Week, certainly not during Triduum.
 
Thinking about it more, it would be inhumane of the Church to actually forbid weddings during Lent, as opposed to just not being very happy about it, to take account of cases when a couple might need to get married in a hurry.

So I was mistaken to say that they are not allowed in Lent - they are just discouraged if possible.

While they are discouraged, weddings may indeed be celebrated during Lent. The couple is simply asked to do things in keeping with the season.

Marriages cannot be celebrated on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. There are days when a marriage can be celebrated but not a Nuptial Mass – although the Nuptial Blessing and one reading from the Nuptial Mass may be done.
GIRM 372. Ritual Masses (such as Nuptial Mass) are connected to the celebration of certain Sacraments or Sacramentals. They are prohibited on Sundays of Advent, Lent, and Easter, on solemnities, on the days within the Octave of Easter, on the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day), on Ash Wednesday, and during Holy Week, taking due account of the norms given in the ritual books or in the Masses themselves.
