Ok well. I am fairly new to these forums. So if anyone is interested in practical, relevant discussion about this social issue, I will discuss. I dont know the history on here between members, or who is repeatedly beating a dead horse in threads.

However if anyone is interested in bringing scripture or the bible into the discussion, i am game for that too ( since i am assuming that most people on here are christians and give the bible credit where credit is due ).

Welcome, as a new person, your opinions are as valid as anyone else. Dead horses have disease and pestulence and can rot and cause others distress. There are many here that have read the bible. Homosexuals usually take Sodom and Gomorrah and spin it this way.
That the scriptures do not make a comment on this last point could suggest that the central theme of the story is in fact one of love of neighbor and hospitality towards a guest–because Lot is presented here as an ideal host. Any sexuality that enters into the picture is incidental in illustrating that central theme. The story says: it is wrong to rape your guests. It is possible that one can take this further to say: it is wrong to objectify others (a comment on the nature of lust). But to view the story as “homosexual activity is wrong” is really, I think to miss the point.

God finding homosexual acts more loathsome than inhospitality, I find this difficult to follow. The story is about extreme inhospitality. Given Ezekiel’s and Isaiah’s words, there is a lot of rampant inhumanity happening in Sodom, a denial of the dignity of humanity, made in God’s image. That in the midst of this, homosexual acts trump pride, economic inequality and refusal to help the poor is a new one. “Whatever you do to the least of these, you do to me.” Are you saying that a homosexual act will incur God’s wrath instantly, but that spitting on the poor, with whom Christ Himself identified…that just raises a passing Divine indignation?

I grew up under the notion that God treats many sins equally.
However knowing a catholic (my best friend) I have also heard that there are varying “degrees” of sin. However I digress. The discussion is about homosexuality? not degrees of sin.

Well for those who are active in their faith, discussions like these could be considered a very possible hobby. The people in my life who are passionate about their faith, find themselves discussing with people often.
 
I am curious. Are there any people on this forum who are involved in academic and peer reviewed research on homosexuality in today’s churches and lives of christians (whether it be catholic or protestant?)

Someone needs to challenge the continual postings of a long time Christian homosexual member of this forum with talent in writing good prose and who has justified in intellectualized terms the inevitability, even the rightful physical expression of homosexual love on a committed basis.

The opening post by Coptic has encapsulated yet another set of meant-to-persuade provocative statements of that member from a current related thread.

Coptic does not have a horse in this race? I don’t think you mean to say that celibate homosexuals are the only ones who have much to say about sexually active homosexuals. Heterosexuals find themselves in these debates because of the movement that active homosexuals are taking society – towards SS"M" and normalization of homosexual acts – not necessarily because of bigotry, discrimination, or “homophobia,” which come handy but untrue as debate-ending accusations.

This is a Catholic website. We read the bible too.
St. John tells us, “If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life. This is only for those whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.” (1 John 5:16-17). QUOTE]

By all means this is bigotry, discrimination, and homophobia. CopticChristian and others start threads of this nature to obtain some sick sense of “I am better than you because of the nature of your sins” in their’s and other like minded peoples brains. AND then use my Church, that I have loved and been a part of since Baptism to prop up their homophobic and bigoted stances. How dare they. God loves me (Gay) as much as you and thes rest of his children. To use the bible and the Church as a weapon of hate is horrible. Talk about sin… Oh, and I do have a horse in the race…
The truth is that you can argue these points forever, but, this is a generational issue… The young people, that have gay and lesbian friends. The kids have gay or lesbian Aunts and Uncles that they love who ARE NOT hiding from your hateful words and actions anymore. When your generation dies and your homophobia with it the issue of Homosexuality will die on the same rubbage heap as Nazism, Communism and Racism… all it takes is time.

You can read minds? Where did you learn this? I want to be able to know and speak of what motivates someone. It would sure help. Can you explain how it is you can know motivies of any one person?

So, either you are a bigoted homophobe (based on your writings) or you have an unsual interest in the inner workings of gays. I assume you are heterosexual by your postings so your intense interest in especially this ONE subject puzzles me ??? Did you have bad personal experiences with gays or lesbians ? If so, please realize that some of us are decent, law abiding, tax paying people with families, and live a Christian life. If you cut me, I will bleed blood just like you. I also pray to my Creator and am in awe of His creation. You Sir have issues that you need to examine.

You do me a disservice. I can understand your shock. Most of my postings are on the Non-Catholic forum. Less than 1/3 of the threads I started have to do with Homosexuality. Would you like to repeat your number evaluation. Your statistics fall short. I have so many issues that need examination, you would not believe. I cannot imagine anyone having as many issues as I do.

I like puzzles. You may want to spend time reading all 5,871 posts and all the threads. You may still be shocked. I have no idea what shocks you but who knows what you may experience. I just checked and the 74 threads that I started, there are about 20 that have to do with sexuality, 20/74. I am shocked that there are so few. What are you shocked about?

I am not intrested anymore… Sick waste of time…
Scares the “blank” outta me to think you might be sat near me at Mass.
