Anyone here from Ireland feeling called to the contemplative life? I will be going to Ireland to assist a community of contemplative nuns because they have no new vocations. I am wondering if there is hope of finding local vocations. It will be lovely to know that there is hope for Ireland.
You certainly have my and my organization’s prayers. The best thing to do is promote parish vocations committees. If you click the first link in my signature, you’ll find a page dedicated to the same. May Our Lady of the Cloister bless you and your efforts abundantly!
That’s great you’re discerning a religious vocation! Just make sure that the community is a good fit for you, that their charism is what you are called to in your life, and that this is truly God’s will for you.
I hear the Church in Ireland is currently going through a rough time. We have to pray for the Irish people and culture to warm up to the Church again. People like you are a sign of hope.
I already stayed in the same religious community for seven years here in our country. I left because of personal reasons and while discerning my return in the religious life this community in Ireland ask me if I was willing to join them. It was a very difficult decision not only because of the cultural differences but also because as I mentioned they have no local vocations.
The pope has also already released Cor Orans which tackles topics such as possible transfer or suppression of communities with only five solemnly professed nuns. I do hope that it is not too late and hope that young Irish people will soon come to join the communities.
Thank you for your reply and may I ask for much prayers? God bless you.
Of course I can pray for you. I think that the local vocations will increase once Ireland embraces its Catholic roots again. I heard that many of the young Irish people have distanced themselves from the Church. Let’s pray for many reversions and conversions!
I would like to ask for your prayers as well. I have a driving test next month and am starting a new job after that. Could you please pray that I will pass the driving test on the first try and that I will become a better driver? I am moving to a city with busy traffic, so I am terrified. Please also pray that I will competently perform the tasks at my new job.
When you do join the community, remember to keep in your daily prayers the conversion of the entire world to Catholicism and for all Catholics to be faithful to all Catholic Church teachings. Pray very hard. The world would become a better place.
