I listen to some CCM…there’s nothing wrong with it. I love the treasury of CCM Marian anthems! [/sarcasm off]

Some of it is theologically iffy but if you’re strong in your faith you won’t be deceived.

I like the song “Patching It Up” by Mountain Heart, a really excellent contemporary bluegrass group (when Steve Gullett was the lead singer). Makes me cry every time…so moving.

I’ve recently listened to Steven Delopolus
stevendelopoulos.com/
He is from a greek orthodox background
Also here’s his Video on youtube here with one of the songs. I have the album if someone wants a download link (for previewing purposes only) please PM me.

Is the band Shinedown considered to be Christian rock? I read somewhere it was, and while I can possibly believe it, it is doubtful. They’re pretty much the only modern musicians I actually care for…

Michael Card , John Michael Talbot - Brother to brother
  • it is absolutly no. 1 album
Great , great , great …

Alabaster Box from Australia. Michael Card, Ray Boltz, Jars of Clay, Damaris Carbaugh

Hi everyone!

You must all be experts, because native English and American people, and you must probably know lots of English nice songs!
Do you know by chance any pop christian musics I would like?

I really like Rebecca St James, Michael W. Smith, Plumb, but I don’t know any other artists.
Could you please make a list of all the groups/singers you know? 😛

Thank you so much! (it helps me in my faith)

I’m so sorry, but I am lost in the 1980s! IMO, the contemporary Christian music stopped when Keith Green died and 2nd Chapter of Acts broke up. JMO, of course!

Seriously, take a look at these 1970s/80s artists. Keith Green is known as an “anti-Catholic,” but I think many of his songs are wonderful. I would be so bold as to claim that along with Dr. James Dobson, Keith and Melody Green helped to galvanize the Protestants OUT of complacency and apathy and got them to stand up against abortion along with Catholics in the U.S.

And 2nd Chapter of Acts was two sisters and their brother, so the vocal blend is amazing–almost like one layered voice. I’ve heard them in person many times. Wish they were still together. Another extremely pro-life group–I think many Protestants are pro-life today because of their ministry.

Another artist to look into is Larry Norman (God rest his soul). This man is credited with starting the Jesus Rock movement. He lived in Haight-Asbury and had a huge ministry among the hippies of the 1960s. His songs are pure rock. He died of heart failure a short time ago. I saw him in person several times, and only a few years before he died, we took our teenaged daughters to see him (drove a long ways to do so). I’m glad we did–the songs are still good.

Sorry I don’t have any recent knowledge of Christian pop rock! There are lots of Christian radio stations around in the U.S., and these often play music 90% of the time. (Three stations in our city.)

Along with Matt Maher, also Bob Rice, Cheer Up Charlie, Danielle Rose, Katie Rose, Fr Stan Fortuna, Chris Padgett, Janelle, Ceili Rain, Aaron Neville, Tom Booth, Steve Angrisano, Curtis Stephan.

I don’t actually listen to all of them though.

The movie Bella had several Switchfoot songs which I really enjoy.

Danielle Rose is an excellent Catholic artist.

Mark

Thank you very much, everybody!😃 I’ve got lots of things to listen to! 😛 😛

Casting Crowns is pretty good :o & I knew that track a bit.

Thanks everybody! 👍

Is there any contemporary Christian music you like? I’m not really usually one for most Christian music because much of it is country-style, or leans too much toward Protestant Christianity for my personal tastes. However, I have recently discovered some interesting artists like Third Day and Brooke Fraser (I’m completely in love with some of her songs!). I was wondering if any of you guys had any artists that make Christian music you liked?

I like the Taize chant. Apart from that I don’t much like modern music.

Great thread idea!
It just goes to show just how much awesome Christian music there is out there. I agree totally with so many of the artists already mentioned. I would like to add (sorry if I missed these on someone else’s post) Bebo Norman – especially for his song “I Will Lift My Eyes” and Brandon Heath – especially for “Give Me Your Eyes” and “I’m Not the Man that I Used to Be”.

There are so, so many others that I can name… but I think we’re covering them.

To anyone who lacks a decent Christian Radio station, we have a “local” station out of Bath, NY. You can listen to them online. They’re FLN.org (Family Life Network). They have a great morning show… funny and filled with great music.

Thanks for the flm webside! I just registred! I love Christian music! ❤️

**Michael W. Smith **is my favorite !!!
