If you like mysteries, see if you can find the Sister Agatha series by Aimee Thurlo. She passed away a few years ago (she was one of my mentors) and while she was better known for writing Harlequin romances and the Ella Clah mystery series with her husband, David, she wrote an excellent mystery series about an extern nun in a cloistered monastery in northern New Mexico who rode a Harley and had a retired police dog named Pax riding in the side car.

Trust me, the series was excellent!

You might check out Catholic mystery writer Mary Higgins Clark. She is Catholic and has written a kajillion books.

Stating that I have lived through a turn of the century makes me feel old! BAHAHA.
Although my stating it as written “during the turn of the century” isn’t technically incorrect, I just did not clarify which century was turned 🙂
The series is placed during the late 1890s to 1930s (I believe is the range)

I’ve read her before! I didn’t realize she was! Yippee, new books!

Mary Higgins Clark is who inspired me to become a writer! Most of her later books include a character that is either a nun or priest or else the plot revolves around something to do with the Church. All of her stories are “clean” and, except for two that allude to illicit affairs–“Weep No More, My Lady” and “Stillwatch”–the main characters (minus the murderer, of course!) lead chaste lives (i.e. no surprise sex scenes.) The rest are wonderful examples of romantic suspense!

Neat, I love it when nuns and priests show up in stories (when they’re positively portrayed!) I don’t know how I came never to read any of her books. I’ll have to remedy that.

Then you’ll love the Sister Agatha series by Aimee Thurlo! Also there is a series (2 books so far) by James R. Callan, the Father Frank mysteries, that feature a priest as the main character. VERY well written, even dealing with the issue of the seal of confession.

My own series has a secondary character, Fr. Eloy, who shows up in almost every book and the main character is a devout Catholic. Makes for an interesting love triangle!
