Latin recreare for “replace”?Hmmm. Re also has a modern business meaning as well. But there it would be the ablative form of the word res, “thing.” “re” as a prefix is a tough one and can do many things to the root. Its many uses could include “back,” “again,” “against,” “behind;” in fact it could have both intensive and negative force as well. Re as in resurrect could be intensive. The Latin recreare in the sense of created again seems oxymoronic so it must mean something else. Any ideas?
