O Mary, my Mother,
I offer you my soul, my mind, and my heart.
Make of me God’s instrument.
Give me a penetrating mind to discover,
firm to judge,
open to understand,
free to serve the truth;
an honest mind in telling what it sees rather than what it wants to see;
a tolerant mind which does not dictate to other people,
but which explain what it sees clearly;
a mind infused by the light and the truth of your Son Jesus,
patient in faith,
while waiting for the vision of eternal life.
Amen.

and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair

A Prayer for the Mentally Ill

Be Father Lord, when I turn to run away from your embrace; Catch me in your strong, sweet caress should I turn from the race, And when I scream distress, shout not human reason in my face, But talk me down, softly into a quiet, safe, intimate space. Bring smiles to shine upon distorted ways, I simply pray, Change my actions for the better with every passing of the day. When electrons fire in double speed at a continuous pace, Into a confined constricted place; capture me in your loving grace! Quell the doubts kept hidden in garments of praise, Whilst others whisper words of distaste in judgement’s haste. Love’s fire flames - scream thoughts, once imprisoned and encased, Out beyond lives wasted, into the heart’s fertile and limitless place. Open me again as I stand at a distance, in disbelief and disease; Soothe me in a quiet voice, as a father who knows and yet is well pleased. Coax me gently back again as before, into your light of loving grace; Recapture my tearful face, Daddy, in the palms of your embrace. Show me love beyond the moon, even in the crevices of sin’s disgrace; Help me forgive sounds of distrust, sitting in humanity’s disregarding face. Lead me through shadows of tainted separation, to dance in unity with you, Entering peace that surpasses all understanding: knowing you to be truth.

Jesus, my Lord and my God, I worship you and adore you. Lord, you have said, “Your Father and Mother may abandon you, but I will never abandon you. “

I believe in you and so I surrender all fears, anxieties and worries into your hands. Lord, I believe in your eternal love. Cover me with your love and let me experience your grace. I pray for all of those suffering from mental illness on CAF or their loved ones . If you will, Lord, and if it will be for my goodness, I humbly pray that you may grant me my request. Amen.
 
Prayer for the Mentally Ill to St. Dymphna

O Virgin and heroic Martyr, we know very little about your origin, but many have learned to invoke you and several have claimed to have been helped. It is said that you remained faithful to your Divine Bridegroom to the end, resisting the lusts of your pagan father and preferring a martyr’s death. Please intercede for all those suffering from mental and emotional illnesses, that they may give glory to God. Amen.

The righteous cry out, the Lord hears
and he rescues them from all their afflictions.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted,
saves those whose spirit is crushed.
PSALM 34:18-20

LOVING GOD, YOU ARE ALWAYS NEAR TO US, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE ARE WEAK, SUFFERING AND VULNERABLE.
Reach out to those who experience mental illness. Lift their burdens, calm their anxiety, and quiet their fears. Surround them with your healing presence that they may know that they are not alone. We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes and in the name of your Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. AMEN.

O listen to me, dear heavenly mother. Come to my aid and refuse me not as I cry to you. For you are my mother, and you fail no one who has recourse to you, O Consoler of the afflicted, O Queen of Peace. Amen.
