I don’t see the bumper sticker but one type of contradiction movement is a system of thought which supports Dialetheism, paraconsistent logic and possibly the philosophical doctrines of anekantavada and of Catuṣkoṭi .

Yes, atheists, there are some contradictions among religions, and no, they aren’t all equally true. However, all people of faith still agree that at least one God exists - something you deny.

You’ll need to use your God-given ability to reason to sort it out.

But as the Catechism of the Catholic Church says:

843 The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved. Thus, the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as “a preparation for the Gospel and given by him who enlightens all men that they may at length have life.”

I also like the pithiness of the sticker. The Coexist thing may have started out as a “just live in peace” thing, but now it’s generally recognized as an endorsement of moral and religious relativism. I bought a Contradict sticker myself - back in the day before the guy had his own website. Wife never let me put it on the car. Too confrontational. She’s probably right.

At this moment, I would like be a casual observer more than an active participant. Here around Augusta, we see all kinds of “religion is bad” bumper stickers. I understand people are entitled to their opinion, but their arguments are oftentimes, well, lame. Anyway, one of my closest friends in Muslim. We each claim our religion to be right but we coexist peacefully. We often have religious dialogues and we both know that at least one of us is wrong (probably him)

I often tend to see these bumper stickers amongst the students i teach.

I was under the impression it was some sort of attempt to call for peace between religious faith in the wake of September 11th. If i recall correctly, the bumper sticker started popping up in a full force around that time…

I simply wrote it off as just another one of those i guess you can call them, “inconsequential actions” people take in order to feel like they are accomplishing something - like hitting a “Like” button for instance.

…When did it start becoming a symbol for a relativistic take on morals and religion?
