Have you seen the controversial Coca-Cola Ad?

Have you seen its behind the scenes clip?

For many, the issue seems to be controversial mainly because of the cultural or racial diversity aspect of the commercial. What many don’t notice perhaps is how it also featured a same-sex couple. What makes this commercial confusing and dangerous is that it apparently equates the permissiveness on cultural diversity with that on same-sex relationships.

If Coke continues to promote same sex marriage, I’ll be seriously reconsidering abandoning soda altogether.

That won’t be the ONLY product to abandon. Have you ever researched “subliminals in advertising?” You will be shocked to discover how many there are out there! Illuminati symbolism is EVERYWHERE!

“I like to treat people how I like to be treated. And like to be treated good and to be treated right.” Quote from the cowboy in the behind the scenes video. 👍

Well, they do have one thing in common. Coke wants to sell to all of them. I have to question though the effectiveness of putting a yucky taste in the mind of people they try and sell to, but hey, its a free country. I do not think it will be effective. I think the feel good ads work better than ads that divide and may anger some. I have a child, so I have to turn off the TV when that stuff airs. That type of association can’t help sales.

I have watched it a couple of times.I missed it entirely. Do you mean the two guys looking out the window. I thought from the headgear one of them was a Jew or Islamic. Or was it the two guys with hands outstretched? I thought one was asian. I am looking for the wrong things I guess.
I believe that same sex lifestyles are unnatural, but we must love everyone despite their sexuality. Too busy getting forgiveness for my heterosexual sins to watch for others’ faults.
The only thing I missed in the ad praising America were the guns. This icon of culture was like an ad on Australia without a beach or the Opera house.

Why in the ever-living **** is that controversial?

Which one was a couple? Oh well. Right or not, they exist.

“Permissiveness”?

👍

I’m not going to stop drinking my Cokes. I thought it was a nice commercial. Who cares if it was sung in different languages. There is no official language in the USA. We are a Melting Pot. 🤷

Also, I never noticed a blatantly gay couple. Did I miss a SS couple making out?

Yeh and what about all those grown men in tight pants slapping each other on the fanny all during the game?:bigyikes:

I thought it was a bit sugary-sweet (rather like the product), but I saw nothing wrong with the advert. It’s saying that America is made up of people of many races, ages and creeds, but we all have more in common than we have dividing us - in this case, the affection that Americans have for their country and apparently their love of Coca-Cola!

I saw nothing controversial in the ad and don’t understand what all the fuss is about.

We have no official language and we do have quite a few citizens and citizen hopefuls who speak something other than English. Nothing offensive or controversial in singing your national anthem in your native tongue as far as I’m concerned.

If there were homosexuals in the ad, and I didn’t see anything blatantly homosexual, so what? The point of the ad was that the country is made up of many different kinds of people united by their love of the country and Coke. Like it or not, there are homosexuals here. Big whoop, it’s not news.

While I have no problem with the different races singing the song, it should have been sung entirely in English. This is America. English is the de facto language. Learn to speak it.

On a somewhat related note, did you notice in the Cheerios commercial the interracial couple?

The two dads and their daughter towards the end ice skating were a gay couple supported by GLAAD

Sometimes. If course, there are many areas of the US where Spanish is the predominant language, and has been for centuries.

And who’s to say that just because they sung it in another language that they don’t speak English? Why do other languages offend you?

While I have no problem with the different races singing the song,
I sure hope not. Don’t know why that’s even an issue to be talked about.

I’m not too fond of the national ads that are in Spanish for no apparent reason, because it just seems forced and weird. But in this case, the use of many different types of people with all the various languages really hit home on the whole “e pluribus unum” thing so I think it made sense.

Well, yes. What about it?

There you have it. The smoking gun. Secular relativism. You can’t stop it, you can only hope to contain it. If you don’t like it (the tenor or the message of the ad)…
  1. Don’t buy Coca Cola products (look at the labels… they are everywhere)
  2. Let them know (consumer products companies are hypersensitive to public feedback)
  3. Let other people know (that’s even scarier to them)
They measured the pros and cons beforehand in testing and determined that the pros outweighed the cons. We (practicing Christians and Catholics) used to command respect in the public square. (The Super Bowl has become one of our public squares!) We have since been systematically fractured and marginalized… and have lost critical mass… so the mass media can pretty much ignore us… just like politicians…

We need a grass roots evangelization effort to inform and enlighten.

I think some people quit watching this ad. No, this is not about the two men looking out the window or the rather artistic weaving of languages. The controversy is primarily about the two dads holding hands, mooning over each other and raising some girl as a family. This is a sad situation, condemned by the Holy Father.

It seems like there’s been far more controversy about the cultural aspects of this commercial than the two men holdings hands with each other and a little girl while ice skating.
