To pay back a debt I can either, donate or I can volunteer. But I realize now that volunteering, although it pays the debt at a faster rate, also endangers my school work. But what is more important paying back the debt faster or the work?

This is purely my personal opinion, so someone more intelligent than me needs to provide their thoughts as well. However, I would say that the rate at which you pay the debt should not be a factor in your decision. While you may want to pay it back faster so as to not have it hanging over you, I wouldn’t risk committing other sins or wrongs in an attempt to repay the debt. Take your time and do it right.

Just my two cents though…

Why do you keep opening these either or threads? The answer is never either or!
You pay back the debt in a manner and timing that does not interfere with your schoolwork. Very simple.

Yes, and then learn how to set limits on yourself to prevent yourself from incurring more debts. 👍

put your priorities in order
what is your primary duty in your current state in life?
first and foremost is always the duty to God, prayer, worship obedience etc.
Then is duty to your family according to your state in life
then to your current “job”–student, housewife, fireman, whatever
then to your immediate neighbors and those with whom you are in contact regularly
then to the wider community.

If volunteering endangers your school work, figure out why, figure out how you can better organize your time to do both properly, or cut back on the volunteer hours and concentrate on school. For most people this would not be an either/or issue, it would be a call to better time management.

I’m not meaning to be a smart aleck, here, but I read
the above statement and I can’t help but wonder
WHAT KIND of “debt” this is,
that you can pay back by either “donating” or “volunteering.”

I wish my (foolishly-incurred) debts could be all solved that way!!
My creditors understandably want a payment check every month, LOL.

Jaypeeto4 beat me to it!

Generally speaking though, regardless of the type of debt, see if you can negotiate more time to allow you to do your schoolwork. Good luck!

Many full time students volunteer… i think it’s our civic duty, personally, and if it pays back your debt, than it contributes to good in multiple ways! Perhaps volunteer somewhere with flexible hours so that you can balance school work and volunteering?
