Hello all

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question.

I have a friend, he just recently came into the Church this Easter.

He is married to his wife - a Catholic and it was in the church with proper dispensation from the local Bishop (in Vietnam).

Now he is a Catholic, does the marriage need to be convalidate?

As I understand it, his marriage was valid.
Now he is Catholic, his marriage automatically became sacramental.
Does he need to do extra?

Thanks in advance

Tak

If the information which you have given us is correct, your friend does not need to do anything. His marriage was a valid, natural marriage since he had a dispensation from the bishop. Now that he has been baptized, it is automatically a valid, sacramental marriage. All you have to do is to congratulate him!

No. she might ask to make sure that the pastor sends the Baptismal information to her Baptismal parish so that they may record the Sacrament of Marriage in her Sacramental records.

They can ask for a Nuptial blessing. There are three versions of this Blessing, one specifically for a Marriage that is valid and Sacramental, but no Nuptial Blessing was given.
