Convalidation or sacrament of marriage?

My husband and I have been civillay married for almost four years. We are both baptized, but I have been conformed, and he still has yet to be confirmed. We would like to be married in the eyes of the church. Would convalidation be the best option for the two of us (this is the first and only marriage for both of us) or would we be better suited for the sacrament of marriage? Also, would my husband need to be confirmed before convalidation?

Convalidation is the sacrament of marriage, it is just an abbreviated form of receiving the sacrament. Essentially is just the exchange of vows between the two spouses in the presence of the priest/deacon and witnesses.

It is not required to have confirmation in order to receive the sacrament of marriage. It is highly recommended, but the sacrament is still valid if someone has not yet received the sacrament of confirmation.
