It’s been a “secret” that our marriage was never convalidated. Now, the ceremony is tomorrow. Please offer up a short prayer that…well…our union remains…solid…throughout and after this event.

Chastity has never been a problem if/when either of us are/were deployed. But when either of us came home, I knew we were living in sin, having been married by…well, let’s call him a “preacher”.

I have been to the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time in 2 years, and before that, have denied myself receiving the Eucharist unworthily.

This past Sunday, I received the Host and covered my face as I silently cried, kneeling in my pew - I had truly come “home.”

Marriage is the next Sacrament for me, and please pray for my worthiness as a wife (Proverbs 31), the strength of our union (to be subordinate to one another out of reverence to Christ (Ephesians 5:21, 28-30), the priest who never seems to have the time to sleep (bless him!), and my husband’s support for my returning to the Catholic Church. May I be an example to my spouse and everyone – not that I am perfect, but that I try to live up to the standards set before me.

Whew! Didn’t know there was so much to say! 😊 My life has changed so much in 4 short years.

WOW!
Congratulations!
May your marriage be Blessed by GOD!
I’m praying for you now!

Dear Friend, by a year after my return to the Church, and I was a daily Mass goer, it still hadn’t occurred to my priests or me that my marriage needed to be validated. Finally the penny dropped. I cried for days and was utterly miserable when suddenly I found I couldn’t receive the Sacraments They meant so very much to me…so remembering how terrible that period was, I know a little of what you went through. My exile didn’t last as long as yours. And I do remember how amazing it was to go to the Sacraments again. How absolutely delightful to receive Communion again, after my marriage was convalidated. Convalidation is odd in a way, because it somehow makes the marriage valid from the beginning even though it wasn’t, or so my then priest explained.
So out of the tears and exile, and then the joy of reunion in full communion, dear sister, I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!

Bells ringing and hearts singing across the ocean!

Warmest congratulations!!

Love, Trishie
I pray for you to be a wonderful wife, and somehow don’t doubt you will be!

Praying for God’s richest blessings upon your marriage. I too was married in a civil ceremony and it broke my heart not to get communion until we were married in the church…A VERY hard thing to do. I am so happy for you. Congratulations!

Wow. Wonderful to hear you say you’ve come home!
I get chills when reading your post! YAY! Blessings to you and your marriage!

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Praying for your intentions…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
