Convents similar to Carthusian Nuns in the U.S.?

I realize that there are no Carthusian convents in the entire Western hemisphere…but is there an order of nuns or a convent that lives a very similar, entirely hermit-like, way of life? If so, what are they called and where are they located?

I am in the very beginning process of becoming a nun myself (personal discernment), and I think Carthusian is the best fit for me. However, I am not able to travel and gain residency in Europe. So I’m stuck in the U.S.

No, not really. The closest would be the Carmelites. Do you have a spiritual director?

The Carmelites is what I was thinking too.

To the OP, there are two cloisters I know of in Colorado (perhaps more). One is in Littleton and another in Colorado Springs (sistersofcarmel.org). While they do not spend as much time in the solitude of their cells as Carthusian nuns they are still cloistered and contemplative. As such they spend much of their time in silent prayer and are seperated from more worldly concerns.
