My fiancee and I wish to get married in a Catholic church. I have been baptized, received first communion, but have yet to be confirmed. My fiancee, however, has been baptized, received first communion, and has been confirmed in the Moravian Protestant - Christian church. In the time that we have been together, we have grown in our faith and strengthened one another and would now like to confirm our Catholic faith. What would the process be like for each of us? Could we attend the same classes that would make us fit to marry in the Catholic church?

Thank you!

If I’m understanding correctly, you are a baptized but unconfirmed Catholic and your fiance is a Protestant.

Parishes handle adult confirmation in different ways. One option is that either individual parishes or dioceses offer preparation for adults to be confirmed. Many parishes, however, have adults seeking confirmation join with those in RCIA for their sacramental preparation.

For Protestants who wish to become Catholic, the usual process is to go through RCIA. Since your fiance is already baptized he would not be baptized again, but would receive confirmation and the Eucharist.

You can check with your local parish to see what exactly they offer. My guess is that both of you would attend classes together.
