Thank you all for your kind words. I want to say that i have been reading this board for a few months now along with the catechism and found so many treasures of information already. You are part of the reason i registered to RCIA. I am going through this process with an open heart and truly truly wish i find my way home. I will be asking much more questions as i go along, so many questions…

I’m happy that the posters on CAF could be of help to you. Congratulations on registering for RCIA! I’m a cradle Catholic who’d been away for the Church for many years, returning 5 1/2 years ago. During my time away, I checked out Protestantism and, interestingly enough, a little bit of New Age. I never tried Wicca, but I did some reading about New Age, the use of crystals etc. For a short time I even frequented a shop that sold a lot of those items and for some reason, was really fascinated with the so-called healing power of crystals. My husband (a non practicing Protestant) just saw them as rocks, but tolerated my interest anyway.
It was a long process but I eventually returned to the Church and now have a Spiritual Director, something you might think about for yourself.

I spent most of my life as an Evangelical Protestant, but during a three year or so span of my life, I ran away from Christianity and all organized religion and explored other belief systems. Wicca was one of the belief systems I explored. I eventually slowly made my way back into the Protestant Church in phases. So I’m not converting from Wicca to Catholicism, but I know what Wicca is.

The call of the old ways is the call of demonic influences. It’s that simple.

As I mentioned to someone else who was considering Wicca, when you look at the neo-pagan religions, they are empty. They have no breadth. They have no cohesion. People really make up their beliefs as they go along. And if you are eclectic, you get to choose from Egyptian and Celtic and all sorts of traditions. You get to create what you want to believe in.

There is no way you can find the richness in those religions that you find in the Catholic Church.

One of the things that attracted me to paganism was the ritual and the magik.

I’ve always wondered why they spell the word “magic,” “magik” or “magick?” Anyone know?

You WILL come home because it is in your heart to do so. As you may have noticed, with each and every one of the responses to your thread, they all say the same thing. Research…understanding the Catholic faith is what is important. You need nothing else. :extrahappy:
