 What about those Lumen Gentium words quoted back there? Sounded like the Church saying who is not saved to me. What am I missing in there that does not say who is not saved?
I mean specifically. Lumen Gentium explains how people are save, not who.

To understand the Eucharist, read Jn 26-59. Jesus makes it clear. If Jesus was speaking symbolically he would’ve said “This bread represents my body.” He didn’t though. Jesus taught the Apostles that the Eucharist was HIS blood and HIS body.

Ya he was holding it up at the time but what does that prove. He raised it up to God for blessing and probable so the disciples could have a visual of what was going on. Holding it up don’t mean that it is his real body.
It is quite clear that no matter what is said or what Scripture is cited that you have your own belief that will not be changed. You are responsible for your own soul, nobody else. If you are led to water, but refuse to drink, then that is your own lookout. It is regrettable that you once had the Truth, but exchanged it for the easy way out. Kinda like turning down a banquet in exchange for a baloney sandwich. Go in peace.🤷

Still  I just reread back there what was posted from Lumen Gentium and help me please. Are you saying it doesn’t say a person can not be saved if they know the Church and do not enter it or do not remain within it? If it does say that, how is that not saying who specifically can not be saved? What part of “Do not judge” (another’s salvation) does the Church not get?

I just don’t see where you see that it literally means his body. I see that if you drink his blood and eat his flesh not to mean his literal body and blood but it means that if you believe and accept him you will not hunger or thurst, in a spitirual way. He feeds your soul. If you eat bread and drink water you will surly die but if you feed youself with the belief of Jesus you will never go hungry. But I don’t see it as his literal body and blood.
You don’t see where Catholics think it’s His body and blood. That’s why you need to look in a Catholic Bible and you’ll see.

No, but saying “This” which can only refer to what He is holding up for them to see, clearly indicates that He was identifying the bread and wine as His body and blood. 🙂

We aren’t supposed to pretend we’re stupid; that’s not what “do not judge” means.

In the case of specific individuals (other people), we can’t judge that they aren’t invincibly ignorant, because we don’t know that they don’t have a hidden learning disability that prevents them from comprehending the meaning of what they are taught. We can’t judge people we’ve never met, because we don’t know their circumstances.

Lumen Gentium gives us what we need to judge ourselves, though.

Do I have access to the teachings of the Church? Is there any reason (besides pride, or some kind of misplaced priorities) why I can not follow them? Is there any information that I could look up, but haven’t made the time because I’m afraid of what I might find out?

This seems to be revkevin’s situation, the situation that i pointed out. He and many other “former” Catholics are in the same boat. They possess, or have been taught the Truths of the Church. But by obstinacy, pride, laziness etc. they have chosen to deny them. I believe that these are the ones Lumen Gentium is talking about. It is not easy to be an observant, believing Catholic. Many take the easy road.

No, but saying “This” which can only refer to what He is holding up for them to see, clearly indicates that He was identifying the bread and wine as His body and blood. 🙂
Jesus has been identified as the bread of life which bread was a main staple back then and he used bread to identify with the people. To futher identfy with the people and his disciples he used bread as a symbol of his body. When he said eat it and you shall have eternal life means if you believe in me you will never go hungry meaning your spiritual life unlike eating bread that is just for food you will hunger again and again. When he took the bread and raised it for the blessing he said this is my body which will be given up for you, once again using the bread which the disciples could identify with as a symbol that the bread of life was going to die for them and that the should remember his sacrifice when he said do this in rememberance of me. And the same thing with the wine, it was a main staple that people could identify with. When he said the is my blood, using the wine because they could identify with the wine, the blood of the New Covanent, that will be shed for you so sins may be forgiven. He was using the wine to symbolize his blood that was going to be shed and that we should remember the blood that was shed as a sacrifice he made for our sins. So we are to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us everytime we celebrate the Lord’s Supped.

Why should He have bothered with symbols? What does it achieve, to pretend to eat Jesus body and blood? If it’s only a meaningless symbol, wouldn’t it be more sensible for Him to have commanded people to read the Bible and listen to preaching?

If He meant that in order to get the Bread of Life which is Himself, you have to believe in Him, then why did He confuse the issue by holding up actual bread and saying “This” (the bread) is my body." Instead of leaving the bread aside, and just pointing at Himself?

Eucharisteo, I’m confused how when the Church says in Lumen Gentium if someone knows the Church but either does not enter her or does not remain in her, then that specific person can not be saved. And how that fits with Christ telling us not to judge another’s salvation.

You don’t know my situation so don’t assume you do. I have had my doubts many, many, many years before I became a Baptist. Once again you are assuming without knowing.
And the Catholics aren’t obstinate. They cling on to an opinion in spite of reason. I know you will disagree with that but then I expect you to. Pride, yes I have pride that I am a Christian and a follower of Christ. Laziness, because I don’t see things the way you were taught to believe so that makes one lazy. You think its easy being a Baptist? Just look at what is being said about us, we are lazy etc. Its always nice to see the true colors of a faith when they result to insults and name calling. No thanks I’ll stick with the good ones.

Fact of the matter is that the Baptist faith is a LAZY faith. No works, no strings, no responsibilities. The only effort put forth is to proof text a dead faith

If it’s only a meaningless symbol, wouldn’t it be more sensible for Him to have commanded people to read the Bible and listen to preaching? I didn’t know the Bible was around when Jesus was here on earth. I guess he didn’t command people to read the Bible because it was not in existance yet or do you know something the rest of us don’t

He needed something as a symbol instead of pointing at himself. What are you going to point at so you can remember him. Thats like saying why did Jesus use parables instead of just saying what he meant.

What does the bread refer to, though? The parables refer to Heaven. When you understand the meaning of the parable, you understand something about Heaven.

If eating the bread does not bind you physically to Christ’s body, then what is the point of eating it? 🤷

That IS funny. It would have been a lot simpler for Our Lord to have said “every time you see the sunset, remember Me,” Or, “whenever you hear a bird sing, think of Me.”

No! He said “You must eat my flesh and drink my blood, otherwise you will have no life in you.” Doesn’t sound like He was pussyfooting around with some kind of bread symbolism. Wake up, man.
