I would like to hear stories of conversion miracles of people who converted from Orthodox Christianity to Catholic. Please give all details that you can. Thanks.

This topic shouldn’t be discussed on this forum, and definitely shouldn’t be referred to as a “miracle.” A formal conversion is only of personal individual choice and the Catholic Church discourages prosthelytizing our Eastern and Oriental Orthodox brethren.

-God Bless.

I haven’t heard of any “miraculous” conversions, along the lines of St. Paul, from Orthodoxy to Catholicism–nor the other way, for that matter.

In fact, I’m only aware of a few well-known figures who swam out of the Bosphorus into the Tiber–the most significant instance being John Bessarion, onetime bishop of Nicea, which came to my attention in post #58 of a thread about Eastern Catholics and the filioque.

Well after about 16 years worth of Orthodoxy and hardly ever stepping into a Catholic church ,in the year of St Paul i began going to and discovering Catholicism again.

Paul being my name ,im thankful to St Paul for helping me find Catholicism again which helped me in my life also.

What did you find present in Catholicism that you saw as lacking in Orthodoxy? 🙂

I grew up Catholic so i already had that experience but was never a regular goer.

I dont know ,it sort of brought me alot of peace and stability coming back ,one thing that helped alot was that i could spend about an hour confessing and talking to my Catholic priest whereas at Orthodoxy over years i couldnt get more that 5-10 min in confession which wasnt enough.

So Confession and Communion is more accessable now

anyhow my soul was troubled alot before and i coudnt find peace ,i feel secure also with Rome

God bless:)

Are you still attending the Divine Liturgy, in an Eastern Rite, such as Byzantine?

My experience has been just the opposite. I am an Eastern Catholic, but confess regularly to an Orthodox priest. Where at the local Latin church the priest is always rushing you through a confession this Orthodox priest will give you all the time in the world. I guess it just varies by the priest… 🙂

jaw drops

How?

Orthodox priests aren’t supposed to give sacraments to Catholics, Latin or Eastern.

Has his bishop approved?

Yes he has his bishops blessing!

This happens more than you would expect.

I even know an Eastern Catholic deacon who has served at Liturgy with the Patriarch of Moscow!

I’ve gotten unction, twice, at the local OCA parish, after vespers. I’ve been a regular, for vespers; and became good friends w/ its choir director. We’re self-professed Church Geeks 😛

Wow.

I’ve pretty much been struck speechless.

Lord, bring about the reunion of Catholics and Orthodox, Eastern and Oriental.

No ,im originally from the latin rite so have been attending there,

there is a nice russian Catholic church here but its a bit of a drive and i havnt been there much,if i lived closer i probably would attend there more

Well thats good…i mean sure the Orthodox priests gave alot of time for their russian/greeketc parishioners,im a westerner and think i felt less important to them than their own people

I did find a good confessor though who is a great man and he did make more time for me at times but ive had a fallout with another priest from that parish and its difficult for me to go there now
