I was going to put this in prayer intentions but I just read that you can’t post advice there so if anyone would just like to offer a prayer that would be appreciated:) My dad isn’t catholic(and therefore all his side of the family) and neither are my two older brothers. I’m particularly concerned about my grandma, she is baptised as an anglican but doesn’t go to church ever. I’ve always felt like it wasn’t my responsibilty to approach her about this topic but since she just had a heart attack and will need surgery… I’m not really sure how to say would you consider converting etc. Unfortunately my grandad died a few years ago and he had alzheimers so I never really brought it up with him/about him and now its like too late:(
should i just leave it or:shrug:

For the conversion of your family:

PATER NOSTER, qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo.

Amen.

Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls in to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy. Amen.

I think it would be best to ask if she would like too convert.

I’ll Pray for you!

Just before her surgery, ask her if she would like to speak with a priest. He will have more expirence in bring up conversion.

And I second what Catholic 1954 said, except don’t wait until just before surgery but as soon as possible to give her time to think on it. Sometimes family members can just jump to say “No” and after thinking about it change their mind.

Most Holy Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit- I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.
Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled unto thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;
to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

You can also ask your grandma if she’d like a priest/minister to visit her prior to her surgery; you’d be happy to arrange it.

God’s Spirit is in my heart,
He has called me and set me apart.
This is what I have to do,
what I have to do.

He sent me to give the Good News to the poor,
Tell prisoners that they are prisoners no more,
Tell blind people that they can see,
And set the downtrodden free
And go tell everyone the news that the Kingdom of God has come,
And go tell everyone the news that the Kingdom of God has come.

Just as the Father sent me,
So I’m sending you out to be
My witnesses throughout the world,
The whole of the world.

Don’t worry what you have to say,
Don’t worry because on that day
God’s Spirit will speak in your heart,
Will speak in your heart.

In these situations I have The Holy Rosary Leaflet/Pamphlet/Card that has Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus on the front cover, in which I take to family members homes or the Hospital and leave it by their bedside on a table or somewhere visible. There are miraculous medals and Jesus Holy Cards with Prayers that I leave with Friends, Family members and anyone who is ill through my travels; giving them the option/free choice to pray. This way, not much needs to be said without hurting feelings or overburdening them particularly whilst ill.

These can be picked up from your Local Catholic or Christian Bookshop or Parish (they can order these in for you too). Be sure to give them out as much as possible for God and Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus; we are all His Brothers and Sisters (in Christ).

Why not pray The Holy Rosaries daily “for the conversion of all sinners now and for Eternity” including the names of your Family members

Please Dear God our Heavenly Father and Dear Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus could You please bathe Thy Family and all Families throughout Thy World in Thy Conversion and Conversion of Catholicism and Holy Sacraments now and for Eternity Amen

So I went and in the end the only real opportunity that came up (because we also had to see my great aunt who had a stroke a few days ago and who I also just realised is probably not catholic:() was just before we had to leave, I decided that the best way of introducing the topic was when we got round to when people would be able to visit her again and so I said: “maybe in between visits you could talk to the chaplain” I’m pretty sure she heard me but it all sort of got talked over quickly :sad_yes: It’s a shame we weren’t closer and then it would be a whole lot easier.

This might be a good idea, I think I will try and sneak something in 😉

She is having a stent put in tomorrow, but no progress on conversion front.:sad_yes:

Hi OP,

I suggest that you give her a green scapular and pray the prayer for her daily. If you don’t think that she’ll accept it, you can place it among her belongings as well as praying daily. Just this June I think, have placed green scapulars under the mattresses of two of my family members for their conversion.

Thankyou, I don’t think I’ve heard of the green scapular, I’ll have to get one. Under the mattress is a great place to put it!🙂

The operation went well but she is miserable, we’ll probably be seeing her this week sometime and annoyingly we are the only people that can as my uncles have both seem to have gone on holiday.
