Hi CAF community,

Lord Jesus Christ, we come to You in humble prayer, that with adoration and thanksgiving, prayer and petition, we may confidently bring our requests to You, who mediates between the Father and men. We beseech You, therefore, to enlighten those in Eastern Orthodox Church, that they may return to communion with the Roman Church, and recognize their errors. We do not beg this in a spirit of pride, but so that Your servants “may all be one”, as You so earnestly prayed in the Garden before Your Passion. Be pleased, O Lord and Lover of souls, to grant this request, by the power of God of the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, Who live and reign with You forever and ever, world without end. Amen.

What do you think?

Lord, please reconcile the Churches of the west and east, that they may fulfill your prayer for unity. Cultivate in the hearts of all leaders and all the way down to the littlest faithful a zeal to exemplify the singularity of the Body of Christ. Through the intercession of Our Lady, who is recognized in both Churches as the holy Theotokos, shine your divine light into your Church. Have mercy, Lord, and send angels to help arrange situations to actualize this intention. Our Lady, angels, and saints, pray with us. Amen.

Praying.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

I just said a prayer for the conversion of the Eastern Orthodox to the true Faith. God bless you.

Hi Latinitas. Could you provide the source of this text?
What do you think?
Pretty much the same as when I hear Orthodox praying that Catholics convert to Orthodoxy.

I wrote it myself.

Well, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

I appreciate all of your prayers,

take out the word errors
Why? To reject the Papacy, condemn the Filioque are errors. It’s not meant in a derogatory way, as if I’m saying “Oh those filthy Greek schismatics!”.

I, too, am a bit puzzled by your comment, cmodrmac. I can understand how some people flat-out don’t pray for the “conversion” of the Orthodox (and there are such people, in case that is in doubt for anyone reading this) but your stance appears to me as a strange ecumenical-unecumenical mixture.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;

but deliver us from evil. Amen.
