Hey, celt,
Having said that:
quote:azcelt,
quite frankly the triumphalism, legalism, and downright hostility displayed by some here(especially the lutheran, anglican diatribes)have made me reconsider pursuing rcia this fall,i don,t see much of the teachings of jesus on display mostly people just repeat there entrenched positions.thankfully the people at my wifes parish have accepted me with open arms and are ecumenical in there christian walk,so maybe theres hope yet for us mere christians.in christ, celt
triumphalism: sure
legalism: oh, yeah
hostility: too often
Fullness of the faith - I think so
Don’t let people get you down on taking rcia, OK?
I’ve run into protestants, fellow Catholics and others
who made me feel perfectly
crummy…and sometimes
it takes me two weeks to recover…
I’ve spoken to converts who told me that their
reason for converting was: If the Church has
survived 20 centuries with some of the “individuals”
that have spoken in Her name…I figure it
has to
be the true Church."
If Jesus is Who He says He is, and offfers Himself
in the Eucharist, then there’s no place like Home.
One final thought: It was Jesus who sat down at
the well and spoke to the Samaritan woman,
and also used the image of the Good Samaritan,
which positively freaked His listeners. How could
He say anything good about
them? [legalism? hostility?]
And after having been with His apostles for quite
a while, He finds they’re discussing who will get
to sit at His right hand in the Kingdom? [triumphalism?]
No wonder Jesus had to go off by Himself to pray…
and rest? Human beings can be so wretched to
deal with, some times. Jesus knew and knows that.
I figure it’s part of carrying the cross.
"Perverse generation! How long will I put up with you?’
[Jesus of Nazareth]
Ain’t it the truth.
Best,
