I am very disappointed in the replies left regarding Islam. Why is everyone anti-Islam here?
Be careful that you don’t generalize too much.

Everyone is not anti Islam here…
That proves no one has any respect for other religions which is not Christian like. Islam is a very peaceful religion, which most of you won’t accept.
It sure does not prove that no one has respect for other religions.
I’ve been reading articles on new muslims who have just converted from their old religion. They all feel a sense of peace in their souls. If someone chooses to explore different religions, they should be able to do so without being criticized or criticizing that particular religion. Why don’t all you Islam haters read up on Islam & quit being ignorant! If you don’t have anything nice to say than don’t say it!!
I would suggest you read articles from several different sources, make sure the articles are not from a completely biased source.

Tahirah, what would make you want to covert to Islam? I have been a catholic for 22 years now, (since i was born) and for 7 years i attended a Muslim run secondary school part funded by our government - (not by choice) (from age 12 to age 19), and i have made many muslim friends, heard many of their prayers and teachings, but NEVER did i even fathom the idea of becoming a muslim!!
If anything, the experience has made me a stronger CATHOLIC! Seeing them stopping to pray anytime and anywhere, has made me feel braver to walk with and say my Rosary or make the sign of the cross anywhere and anytime.
If you seriously consider coverting then you were never truly a Catholic nor fully embraced our Church’s teachings.
Please think clearly before making your decision, make sure you are doing it for YOURSELF and not for anyone else, (as i have seen many good christian girls converted to Islam for a boy who later on dumped them).
God Bless!

did i mention that i started wearing a chapel veil (MANTILLA) to church for Mass too? Hardly anyone wears it to church anymore but i do!

It seems like you’re searching for the truth, which is a good thing. But, I don’t think you will be able to adhere to both faiths at the same time since Islam and Christianity have much different fundamental truths.

I’ll just suggest that while studying what Islam teaches, also go back and put as much effort into studying what Catholicism teaches. I know for myself (a cradle Catholic), I found myself looking to other faith traditions while ignoring the faith I grew up in during my search. When I finally decided to study what it meant to be Catholic, that’s when my real faith conversion occurred. I grew up in the faith, but knew nothing about it.

All I’m saying is not to ignore the faith tradition set out before you while exploring others. I don’t mean this in a negative sense, just out of my own experience. It was when I took the time to explore the faith I grew up in that I soon discovered the beauty and rich tradition of the church founded by Christ Himself.

If it’s the praying 5-times a day that attracts you (as you mentioned in the original post), try praying the Liturgy of the Hours (universalis.com/) which will accomplished this prayer routine as well. There are also so many wonderful prayers and devotions of the church to explore that I’m sure you’ll find something that appeals to you.

God bless, and I’ll pray for you!

Dave, Thanks for the link, I’ve been looking for The Liturgy of the Hours, plan to start recite it.👍

** Please leave these bad remarks about Muhammad now that he married a young girl. He was the most sensible, honest and successful man who taught new laws to the mankind. Do you think he was ignorant.

These things about the girl’s age six and nine have been taken from the Hadith, so they are not reliable at all. See the Quran. If there is nothing there then forget those bad things. If you use thos ethings too much it will show you as a bad man. i.e. looking for faults in others.

Did Jesus tell you to judge any one. Muhammad was a perfect man of God like Jesus. If Tahirah accepts Islam, there is no harm. She will have Jesus with her all the time even mor ethan before and the mother of Jesus also and the grand mother of Jesus too (all well described in the Quran). I suppose the bible NT does not describe the good work of the mother of Mary.

Let Tahirah remain Catholic and be a good Catholic. We Muslims have no objection. The problem about prayer: She has decided to become a Muslimah. Then she is worried about her prayers. She can always pray five times a day and at the same time continue her previous practice of prayers to God Almighty.

Tahira, please remember that If you become a Jew, you lose Jesus and Muhammad. If you remain a christian you losa Muhammad. If you become a Muslimah then you have every one with you in a respectable status without any blemish.

Before becoming a Muslimah, please make sure that you are ready to believe:
  1. In One God without parts or partners.
  2. That Muhammad is mortal man, servant and messenger of Allah.
  3. Believe in all the angels of Allah.
  4. Believe in all the books of Allah.
  5. Believe in all the messengers of Allah.
  6. Believe in destiny that all is from Allah.
These are only the beliefs. After these, there are obligations of praying 5 times a day, Paying a poor tax of your unused, unspent wealth @ 2.5 %. Fasting during the month of Ramadhan i.e. 9th month of Muslim calendar. And visit to Makkah for Hajj once in lifetime for pilgrimage.

It is better to remain Catholic until you are sure of what you are doing. So that you do not have to shuttle back to previous belief.

If you are a Muslimah then you are a Jew as wel as a christian and Muslim too. You have all the faiths because Muhammad was told by Allah to follow in the footsteps of all the previous prophets, and he did. wassalam.**

Islam is a very peaceful religion

You cannot condemn an entire religion because of the way SOME of their members INTERPRET parts of it.

I have met religious Jews who believe in a “live and let live” understanding of Jewish law.

Then again, I have met religious Jews who believe that when Mashiach comes, Gentiles will all be the servants of Jews!

I have met Catholics who believe that all it takes to go to heaven is to be good…and then I have met Catholics who believed that unless one is baptized, one goes to hell.

Likewise, I have met Muslims who hold to a moderate understanding of their faith, and respect all people of all faiths…and then I have run across Muslims who believe that they must impose their religion onto others.

I am not anti-Islam. I am anti-militant Muslim who wishes to destroy my way of life and enslave my people. Those things are not the same.

I am against anyone converting if they do not have all of the facts. That is where I stand. From the research that I have done, it is hard to know everything about Islam before you convert. The Muslim posters on here are very up-front, and I thank them for it. They are willing to discuss all topics. This is not the same on all discussion forums. Many are only willing to discuss how corrupt my faith is or how perfect Islam is. Please.

Some of my problems comes from seeing a religion that has, written into its holy book, teachings about Christianity that are WRONG. If God dictated the Qur’an, how was he wrong?

Eventually, the militant faction of Islam will have to “learn”, just as Judaism and Catholicism did, that using force and violence to compel conversions is wrong.

The ancient Israelites did it, and modern Jews no longer do.

Medieval Christianity did it, and modern Christianity no longer does.

Militant Islam will be the last religion of the three great Abrahamic faiths to “learn”.

Perverting to Islam

You can’t convert to the Devil my friend.

Allah is not God. He is a pagan deity.

And “Omnes dii gentium daemonia” ,“All the gods of the Gentiles are devils,” which is a quotation from Vulgate Psalm 95:5.

Hmm…that’s from the Jewish Bible. MY Bible. And it was said by a Jewish King, to a Jewish people.

So, when he said, “All the gods of the GENTILES are devils”, could he have meant the one many modern Gentiles (Christians) worship as well? Maybe you need to be careful using that passage. 🙂

I was once told by a Chasidic rabbi of the Bobover sect that the deity Muslims worship is the same God as that of the Jews. I’ve always held to that because I figure he’d know.

ya i can condemn.anyway i was talking about islamic scriptures not about muslims.we gave many references from quran that taught violence, killing&to hate non muslims, forbade making friends with them!if our reference from quran isn’t enough then what can we do?Ok as soon as possible i will gather more reference.

Its all in how the passages are UNDERSTOOD. To militant Muslims, jihad means an actual, physical war against infidels.

To moderate Muslims, jihad is an internal ‘war’ to control ones’ passions and to become closer to Allah.

There are passages in the NT that, if taken differently than most modern Christians take them, could be interpreted to mean that Jews (and others who do not believe in Jesus) should be slaughtered. Luke 19:27, for starters.

Its all in how one understands the passages!

some of us know Islam first hand. That’s why. You asked if you could be Catholic and Muslim, and you got honest replies, maybe too honest for your taste.
