I had completed R.C.I.A classes but made my decision to convert a bit “late”. Today I asked my priest if I had to wait until next Easter, he said, We’ll talk". I sat down and composed an e-mail to him explaining why I waited, that I wanted to be sure I had all my “issues” resolved, and I have done so. Please pray my church will let me go ahead instead of waiting another year. One person that missed Holy Saturday that was in my same class got to go ahead and do so today during the sevice, and I was very happpy for him but didn’t realize that it was possible to do so.
Sincerely, Mary

Well, I was trying to find an appropriate prayer or Bible verse for you from today’s Liturgy of the Hours, and so many of them have to do with baptism. It’s like the Lord knows how much you want to be baptized today! 🙂

“Afternoon reading (None) Romans 6:4 ©
When we were baptised we went into the tomb with him and joined him in death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the Father’s glory, we too might live a new life.”

From morning prayer:

You saved us through faith:
make us live this day according to the faith given us in baptism.
– Lord, make us shine with the brightness of Christ.

From evening prayer:

Through water and the Spirit you brought a new generation into being:
make them faithful to their baptism so that they enter eternal life.
– Lord, through Christ’s glory, keep your people safe.

Praying that you will be received into the Church as soon as possible…whatever God wills for you may it be done! Amen.

If the priest does ask you to wait, as difficult as it will be, know that if you apply yourself to loving God and doing His will, and you accept the painful waiting for His sake and offer it up for sinners, you will be greatly blessed during that time and afterwards. I thought I was ready to be baptized and confirmed and receive Holy Communion months before the Easter Vigil, and it was painful that I had to wait; but during that time of waiting, God prepared many graces for me. He was constantly at work in my soul. I am very glad now that I had that time of struggle and preparation.

So I will pray for you to be accepted soon, but also for God’s will to be done and for your perseverance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed by Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I was fully initiated into the Church during the Easter Vigil, I had started my RCIA in Feb 2009 just before my deployment all the while attending pre-marriage classes online while I was gone. I re-entered RCIA when I returned in August and at the time it really seemed redundant but as the weeks rolled by I realized how little I knew and how much I enjoyed the classes and how much I grew in knowing Jesus and His Church. Fortunately I was able to attend with my wife and she had a bit of a refresher in her faith as well. Though waiting may seem like a burden it is certainly a blessing to be able to gain a greater understanding of the Church you are about to enter.

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Praying that you will be able to do the same as that person who missed the Easter vigil…

O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You.
Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me.
Tell me what I should do; give me Your orders.
I promise to submit myself to all that You desire of me
and to accept all that You permit to happen to me.
Let me only know Your Will.
Amen
