You cannot prove that at all in a scientific way.
lets give him a chance to prove it in a practical way. like if islamic teaching make muslim people better than christian people. what with their teachings on polygamy, wife-beating, killing apostates, non-interest.

Fair enough. I would love to see impartial, scientific proof that the teachings are far superior.

Forgive me for maneuvering it towards the Saudis, but they stand out as Islam’s earthly symbol today.

Fix them up and you would have largely succeeded in fixing Islam’s reputation.
That’s astonishingly silly.

So now Israel is earths testament to Judaism?

Not right now. But after they bomb that Dome of The Rock mosque, rebuilds Solomon’s Temple on top of it and begins practicing ancient Judaism again, then thats when Israel becomes Judaism’s earthly symbol.

The Vatican is Catholicism’s earthly symbol because it houses the Pope and everyone that dictates catholic beliefs.

Saudi Arabia is Islam’s earthly symbol because it houses the Kaaba and every muslim is advised to go to a pilgrimage there.

AgnosTheist what is your opinion on American treason laws? What do you think is the appropriate punishment for treason?
Depends on the time. During wartime death is an appropriate sentence for a traitor, but during peace time the case has to be examined (and during wartime a person must be given a fair trial and judged by his peers). Of course, there is no such concept in Islam as a fair trial judged by your peers.

Not quite. When in the United States reporters don’t go to Rome for explanations of Catholicism, they go to their bishops. There are many “earthly symbols” for Christianity (i.e. Catholicism), such as Jerusalem, Rome, Bethlehem, Antioch, etc.

The only reasone that your comparison is remotely plausiable is because Catholicism specifically claims the Pope who is head of Vatican is the Vicar of Christ on earth, that mild legitimacy is totally broken when you try to extend the comparison to Islam, simply because Saudi Arabia happens to comtain Mecca does not in any any lend credene to the idea that Saudi Arabia represents Islam, Saudi Arabia represents an arcaic monarchy, imposing a totalitarian theocratic government, nothing more

In another thread Amy lambasted the West for its less than perfect legal system wherein sometimes murderers are found not-guilty. I asked her how her proudly proclaimed sharia law is any better in determing the guilt of a murder-suspect. She couldnt answer.

Its sad how a former western girl can become like this.

its also the single biggest financier of islamic religious schools around the world. which makes its influence over islam ENORMOUS. if anything could symbolize Islam, this is it. Saudi Arabia.

And the bishops report to the vatican.

mind you, i was only referring to catholicism and not christianity in general.

Well, first of all I’d ask for some quantative figures and studies, secondly to say that Saudi Arabia funds Islamic schools and therefore exerts a strong influnece on the development of modern Islamic thought is markedly different from claiming what you say below.

no

whoever said anything about ‘modern’? 😃
Alright, delete “modern”, now do you have any quantative figures?
thats up to you.
Not really, it’s a silly argument, now i’m willing to continue this debate if you are, let’s look at this rationally

What is it for a A to be “symbolic” or “stand for” B?

I don’t see such a concept in Catholicism.
And you won’t. The Church teaches that states have the moral obligation to protect the population. Treason, therefore, can be a crime. The Church will not call for the death penalty, though.

Wait now, I was refering to the notion of one receiving a fair trial in fron of their peers.

Oh. Sorry. I misuderstood. The Catholic Church does teach about the need to insure fair trails. If you do a search, you will see that it does. I do not have my CCC handy here, but I’ll get info for you.

This is from this site It does show that the church teaches the importance of being a juror
Serving on a jury is a normal civic duty. A jury makes its judgment on the basis of physical evidence submitted and testimony given. God might make a different judgment on a given case—but then only God has all the relevant information and knows the heart of the accused person.
Lawyers question potential jurors and have the right to a certain number of peremptory challenges, not having to state a reason. They can also object to other jurors “for cause” (a reason that the judge accepts or rejects).
A potential juror in a case involving the death penalty will be questioned about his or her readiness to impose that type of punishment if the person is found guilty. One should answer honestly about his or her stand on capital punishment, which Catholic teaching opposes in most cases (Catechism of the Catholic Church, rev. ed., #2267).
The biblical verse that you cite is a caution against thinking that human judgments can perfectly reflect God’s judgments. But some human judgments are necessary in order to stay alive and to protect innocent people.
Believers in Jesus have civic responsibilities. In Vatican II’s Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, the world’s bishops taught: “The council exhorts Christians, as citizens of both cities [earthly and heavenly], to perform their duties faithfully in the spirit of the Gospel. It is a mistake to think that, because we have here no lasting city, but seek the city which is to come, we are entitled to evade our earthly responsibilities; this is to forget that because of our faith we are all the more bound to fulfill these responsibilities according to each one’s vocation” (#43).
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “As far as possible citizens should take an active part in public life” (#1915). Serving on a jury of one’s peers is an important part of a fair and impartial system of justice.

I don’t think you so much as misunderstood as I have been vague, when I said that I wasen’t refering to the court system in the sense of the individual governments, I ment within the Church itself.

Looking back my point was, I think, ill founded and intending to counter an argument I had read into his post

This is one of the many reasons that I enjoy discussing things with you on here. You tend to think through both your points and the way you right them. It makes is easier to push through.

I think that one reason that you do not see the Church have jury of peers as part of its juris prudence, so to speak, is due to several reasons. First, the concept was not that widespread when Cannon Law was first formulated. Second, there are not a lot of trial type things in the church. Third, although it is a great way to help insure a fair trial, it is not the only way. For example, a military court martial is composed of officers, even if the one on trial is an enlisted man or NCO. Would it really be a jury of their peers? Finally, the Church, unlike Islam, is not a political system as well as a religion. Simply put, it has no need to spell out how trials are to be held.

no. but i do have news articles like this:

**Saudis Quietly Promote Strict Islam in Indonesia **

Saudi Arabia symbolizes Islam when taken all these factors together:
  1. It is the guardian of Mecca & Medina. Islam’s holiest sites.
  2. It is the birthplace of Islam.
  3. It is the originator of the Islamic language…arabic
  4. It is the single most influencial voice in the muslim world
  5. The country is an Islamic Theocracy.
  6. Muslims quietly submits to their authority and their policies.
