From the T-Shirt in my closet:

10.) It’s politically incorrect. (Annoy the Catholic bashers).
9.) You can sing badly, and no one cares. (9 out of 10 American Catholics are musically impaired).
8.) You can impress your friends. (Tell them you belong to a militant international institution).
7.) Your Mother. (Low cost way to keep her happy).
6.) Great Weddings! (When it comes to ceremony, the Catholic Church is smokin’).
5.) Great Pope!
4.) Saints. (Talk about friends in high places!)
3.) Confession. (No, it’s not fun, but what a deal).
2.) Dependability. (Jesus founded our Chuch on Peter, the rock, and promised that the gates of hell should not prevail against It.)
And the number one reason to stay Roman Catholic is the awesome gift of… (Drum roll, please…)

(On the back side of the shirt)

THE EUCHARIST!

“He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood will have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day. For My Flesh is real food and My Blood is real drink. He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood lives in Me and I in him.”
  • John 6:54-56
I would like to second this.

the best part: it’s the Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth (aka Jesus Christ)

the second best part: the people. Catholics are the friendliest people in the world. The men are true, brave, manly men. The women are sweet, beautiful, and love everyone as their own child.

The third best part is the unity of the Church. It’s great to know I can trust a Catholic, even if they live on the other side of the world and speak a different language. That’s because the Gospel of the Lord is a language in and of itself.

I love the many rites we have (i.e. Latin, Eastern). All are so beautiful in their own…um…rite. :o
I do miss church nurseries though…HAHA – finally I found SOMETHING I miss about the baptist church!
Fear not! They do exist! At least in two parishes I belonged to (to include my present parish). 🙂

I like Everything but especially the security of knowing I’m a part of the TRUE Church and also all of the tools that Christ provides through the Church to keep us on the straight and narrow!

Every Sunday that I go to the church my family is members at, I just have to sit back and thank God for the tremendous priveledge of being born Catholic. I think this particular church has fostered the love I have for the Catholic Church, even at a young age. It is a beautiful church, with so many different aspects that lend themselves to the Sacred… flawless choir :D, traditional music (no ‘Gather’ hymnal for us!), male only altar boys (and 6 at an average Sunday Mass), Communion rail, incense, stain glass windows, multitudes of statues, priests who give deeper homilies… etc! Everything proclaims ‘God is present, adore!’.

And I love learning the truths of the Catholic Faith! The more I learn, the more I want to learn, and the more I fall in love with the Church. It is so beautiful to be able to delve deep into the truths of the faith, and have it make sense, and not fall apart… (as opposed to other faiths that cease to make logical sense the more you learn about them) It is SO COOL being CATHOLIC!!

depth of Theology, the art work, the rich history. I love having the Deuterocanonical books in my Bible 👍 (I used to be Protestant.) The Saints are cool too.

Another cool thing I love about the Catholic church is that it is so physical.
  • God uses ordinary men, ordained as priests, to provide us with the sacraments.
  • God Himself comes into us physically when we receive Him in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
  • The ritual of the Mass is so different than what I understand happens at many protestant communities.
  • We have sacramentals, such as the Rosary, that we can hold on to.
Obviously, that’s just a start.

I love having the Rosary and the Blessed Mother. I feel that she encourages me when my quest to know God wanes, she supports me when I have difficult things to do and she is a shining example of what it means to be open to the Will of God. I love praying the Rosary in our little Adoration Chapel at my church and I have recently begun to pray the Scriptural Rosary, which is truly a beautiful devotion.

I love the unity of the church all over the world, the fact that our church has Mass every single day, and that our priests are so educated in theology and church history.

The Catholic Church is the fullness of Jesus Christ’s mission on earth and was founded by Jesus Himself. I’ve been to other churches, and it always seemed that something was missing, particularly the Real Presence in the Eucharist. We are so blessed to be able to receive Him every single day!!

Peace~

The thing that I find most wonderful about the Church is that there is something for everyone. If you are a science/knowledge person, there is tons of history/science/philosophy/critical thinking that can be done concerning the Church. If you are a mystical type person, there are miracles and saits everywhere for you to marvel at and learn about. If you are a blind faith kind of person, you can just listen and do what is expected of you. If you are a missionary type person, there are all kinds of outreach programs you can join. If you are leader type person you can get involved in parish councils, and other lay organizations in a leadership role. If you are deeply spiritual/thoughtful type person, you can spend hours in front our our Lord in the Eucharist…etc etc. The list goes on. There is so much to see, hear, and do in the Church that it should almost be a crime for people to just be Sunday church goers and nothing more.

God bless,

John

👍👍

Add to what you have written the various Rites within the Church from the Charsimatic to the EF only within the Latin Rite, to the richness available in the eastern Rite Churches…It truly is a huge umbrella…

Peace

For me, just pondering the fact the Church is more than a religious society whose purpose is the worship of God, more than a society different from all others because it was founded by God, more than a depository of grace and revealed truth. The Church herself is supernatural in her nature and essence, since she is the Body of Christ, living with the life of Christ himself, with a supernatural life. From the “fullness of Christ” (Collossians 2:9 ff) all his members are filled, so that the Church herself is “the fullness of him who is wholly fullfilled in all.” (Ephesians 1:23). Hence the mystery of the Church is the very mystery of Christ himself.

Staggering. Absolutely staggering!

Praise be Jesus Christ. Now and forever! ❤️

Oh, gosh! Where to begin…? First and foremost, the Eucharist!! Body, blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ, Himself, and I get to partake EVERY DAY! The greatest gift on earth! Amazingly great! Sometimes I can’t even fathom the thought. It is mind-blowing!

Second, our dear, lovely Blessed Mother. It is solely the Blessed Mother who lovingly took my hand and led me to her precious Son! I am forever indebted to her and to her Seven Sorrows (my favorite devotion).

My faith journey has been amazing. I am a cradle Catholic, but didn’t really get serious about my faith until my daughter was born. Once I decided to give my heart to Jesus and Mary, the rate of speed in which I grew in my faith was astounding! There are NO LIMITS with Jesus and Mary.

Every devotion I’ve embraced has a list of “promises” from either Jesus or Mary, such as the Sacred Heart devotion, the Seven Sorrows devotion, the Rosary. I will occasionally look over the list of promises from these various devotions and I quickly realized that Our Lady and Our Lord made good on every single promise!!

I could go on forever.

👍👍👍

I found this reminder of another cool attribute of the Church (thanks to another thread):
“The celebration of feast days is an important part of our Catholic culture. On the evening of 31st October why not do something to make your faith respectfully seen and heard? Light a candle or display publicly another kind of light, for example, perhaps alongside an image of Christ.”
That’s from Window light campaign intended to ‘reclaim’ Halloween as Christian holiday

One thing that drew me to the Catholic Church was its cultural richness. Of all the denominations that I’ve attended their churches, I personally feel that the CC has been the most welcoming and open with people from other cultures, and respecting their cultural practices. Many other faiths would see practicing cultural traditions as “bad” and that in order to be Christian you’re supposed to “let the dead bury the dead” (as I’ve been told in the past).

I really like knowing that my church recognizes that its people exist globally, and not just in American-Western-blond hair-blue eyes land. (Although some of the comments posted on CAF could make you wonder). For the most part IRL people have been very welcoming about it. I can make my curry and eat it too!
