I have seen greethings for the Nativity season used by the EO Churches, but not for the OO or Coptic Churches. Does anyone have these greetings? Also, I was told the the OO and Coptic Churches cross themselves left to right as the Latin Rite Church does, is this correct?

Waiting eagerly for a knowledgeable response, or responses.

Oh, and I know this is asking a lot. My daughter asked me if any of the Eastern Catholics on here could post the Hail Mary in Aramaic. She would be intensely grateful, and,for her sake, so would I.

Chaldean Catholic nativity greetings (modern Aramaic, and English):

Hwele Maran! Shouha shimmeh!
Our Lord is born! Praise be His name!

or

Hwele Maran! Shouha illeh!
Our Lord is born! Praise be to Him!

Some people will add a third response after whichever one above is used, and it goes like this:

W-slawatha d-Mariam yimmeh
And the prayers of Mary, His mother.

Some Chaldeans will simply opt for the typical: Merry Christmas! 😃

God bless,

Rony

Yes.

Here is a classical Aramaic version of the Hail Mary pronounced in the West Syriac dialect:

Hail Mary

God bless,

Rony

God bless you and save you Rony! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

You’re welcome 🙂 and a Merry Christmas to you as well!

God bless,

Rony

It seems through these discussions that the Latin Church is as bad as any imperialist nation that has gone through the world making every land their own and forcing those who live there to submit to themselves. It seems that they wish to make us basically their little pet that they can use to trick the eastern Christians into thinking they actually accept some aspect of eastern Christianity. You anathematize the Greeks, and consequently also the Greek fathers but in doing that you also say that you support the continued use of eastern Christan tradition. And this ‘use’ is exactly what you percieve it as. We are just to basically play dress up as eastern Christians. We are to be basically latins with beards and eastern vestments who like to use incense alot.

Rony:

I just gave it to my daughter. She says:

“Thank you, Rony. I have been wanting this for a long time. I have it in English, Gaelic, French, Russian, Latin, Spanish, Italian, Swahili and Hungarian. If you want any of them, just say so, and I will be happy to have my dad send it or them to you. The only one I can’t say be heart is Hungarian, and now Aramaic, but I’ll learn.”

Wow, it’s awesome that you are learning it by heart 🙂 There is actually a very large collection of the Hail Mary in many languages, which is available here: campus.udayton.edu/mary/resources/flhm.html#top
So whenever you want to learn one in a new language, you can pick one up from this site. By honoring Mary, she will always lead you closer to her Son Jesus, because that’s her mission :yup:

God bless,

Rony
