It seems like the new trend in films are copy-cat films. Olympus has Fallen and White House Down seem very similar, almost to the point where it is silly. Why see both? Tom Cruise’s Oblivion and Will Smith’s After Earth are about coming back to earth after it has been destroyed. They seem identical, in terms of concept. But again, we see the same concept replicated in two films. Look at the trailers to see the similarities.

Now the Bible is a very popular series today. Soon there will be a film about Noah, and there are two planned projects by Ang Lee and Ridley Scott about Moses. Christian Bale is set to play Moses while Russel Crowe is playing Noah. I’d like to see a Book of Job film. It does seem like there are two Moses biopics in development. I hope that only one Moses film gets made in order for another biblical character to get a movie actually, like Job.

I’m glad that people are turning towards the Bible, but it seems like hollywood really follows trends almost too predictably most of the time.

That history channel bible series was awful in my opinion. Ang Lee made Brokeback Mountain so I don’t hold out much hope for anything he would put out. Ridley Scott…I don’t know. He has done some good films in the past but not recently.
It’s true about those parallel movies coming out, I noticed the one with Will Smith and Tom Cruise seemed very much the same.
Hollywood goes on trends. They see something that works like Twilight and they make a million copies. They see Harry Potter becoming a megahit and they raid the young adult section at Barnes and Noble for magical stories about teens in school. Hollywood is just a business and the business side is getting more and more of priority. Just look at what wins the oscars these days. They are movies that most people don’t watch and have never even heard of. They like their business side where they put out all the schlock for the masses and then they gives oscars to pretentious **** that no one but them would actually like. I couldn’t get through that silent movie that one best picture last year. It was the most boring piece of garbage I’d ever seen.
It’s only by accident I think that anything good gets made anymore. I didn’t even like the Hobbit movie…I thought it was mostly filler and Peter Jackson is a hack for stretching it in to three movies. I loved LOTR movies tho. I think Peter Jackson wanted to make LOTR and was passionate about it and that’s why they were really good and he’s only making the Hobbit to make money.
