Firstly, I must say I absolutely love the Forums and appreciate their value. One thing that bothers me, though, is the copy-pasted prayers in the Prayer Intention section. I mean, people must love having them, but does anybody else feel they’re a little insincere?

I am sorry if this comes off poorly, it just seems silly to paste in rote prayers rather than offer condolences or advice…

The practice of posting copy & paste prayers did not set well with me either at first, but I have gotten used to seeing it now. My understanding is that the prayer intention forum is not really intended to be the place for offering a lot of advice. If a person is actually seeking advice, they should use another appropriate sub-forum. So the prayer forum is for prayers, and I suppose not everyone can, nor do they necessarily need, to compose original prayers every time.

It seems to me the people who request prayers there are just looking for support through the power of prayer, and for someone to share in their concern, and so I have come to see it does not matter all that much whether the prayer offered is a custom-made original, or one of the tried and true prayers from the treasury of the Church. Its all good! And welcome to the forums. 🙂

(goforgoal - copy-paste is that computer trick for lifting an already written text - like a prayer - and putting it somewhere else - like the prayer intention forum - so that one does not have to type it out again.)

It has been mentioned numerous times before.

No one seems to have a problem with it.

For those that don’t know what the OP means,

It is the act of posting numerous prayers each minute. Obviously copying the prayer and pasting it over and over again.

I’ve just never understood how someone can pray that fast. And if they aren’t praying that fast, but instead remembering to pray for each of those intentions later, how they remember each intention. 🤷

Or is it a generic, “for everyone I said I would pray for.”

It used to bug me a lot.
However, some of the more original or lesser know prayers are really great, and can used in ministry.
I am the recipient of some of the copy-paste prayers, and hey…I’ll take them if they are genuinely offered! :yup:

I think if someone has taking time to copy/paste a prayer, they probably said the prayer too.

christofirst- Thank you for taking the time to explain

Techno2000- Thank you for providing the YouTube video

I was just wondering if the OP was asking about Prayers that are copied and posted time and time again or if the OP had a problem with Prayers being copyrighted?

Anyways, for me I’ve appreciated the advice when given. I’ve also really appreciated and I am thankful for the comforting messages when family members have passed away.

However, sometimes I don’t need “your” (not just referring to the OP or anyone who stops by this particular Forum) advice or suggestions. There are times when I just simply need “your” Prayers as do many other people.

There are some people who have family and friends who want to come back to Holy Mother Church hence Prayer to St. Monica.

I Pray for The Holy Souls in Purgatory because I lost 5 of my relative in the year 2012. I don’t know how many of my relatives, ancestors, or who is in Purgatory…But, I Pray they will reach the gates of Heaven.

There are also intercessory Prayers to the Saints, ‘unknown’ Saints, and candidates for Saints that I have posted or that I joined in a Prayer Forum. ← I simply would like to make the ‘unknown’ Saints and candidates for Sainthood known and appreciated.

(* My sincere apologies if the above comes off as rude, crude, or negative in anyway. I don’t mean it too nor intend it too)

All the years, I have been a member of CAF I appreciate all of the Prayers.

I don’t post on every Prayer Intention and I admit I don’t always post on the Prayer Intentions that I am currently involved with regardless whether I post or not I do Pray for everyone that asks for Prayers.

I love Praying for people…:signofcross:

  1. Pray For Souls In Purgatory
There are more souls released from purgatory during the Consecration of the Mass than at any time. Christmas is the day of the year when most souls are delivered; then feast days of Our Lord, Our Lady and great saints. Souls receive much grace from prayers offered for them on their birthdays, day of baptism, anniversary of death.

The more we work for Poor Souls on earth the more others will pray for us, the more merciful will Christ be with us when were in purgatory.

Our Lady asked that we pray very much for the poor souls; that we pray:
5 I believe in God . . .
1 Hail Holy Queen . . .
1 Our Father . . .
1 Hail Mary . . .
1 Glory be to the Father . . .
1 Requiem (Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them and may they rest in peace. Amen!)
Our Lady said that if we pray the prayers “we’ll deliver so many souls, so many souls!”

“The Holy wounds are the treasure of treasures for the souls in Purgatory.”

I copy/pasted this for you goforgoal.😃

I don’t see a problem with copy and paste. I read the prayer request. I reflect on the need. I copy than paste the prayer. I then before posting, I pray the prayer. I may post and pray one prayer a minute. Two at the most.

A prayer for all,

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

I agree. I don’t just paste it and run, I actually say the prayer. How is that any different than someone asking me in person and I say a prayer for them?

I post from my iPod. Sometimes I don’t have an appropriate prayer memorized, and going back and forth is impossible for me currently as the iPod reloads the page each time I return, erasing what I have already written. But I always pray the prayer I c&p.

And sometimes someone has pasted in a very appropriate prayer, so I pray the prayer that’s already there.

And FWIW, if the internet is running slowly or I’m rushed, I may not leave a post on the thread where I prayed :o Altho it heartens me to know, so I try to at least leave a praying emoticon.

Because my memory is not that great anymore, I always say prayers when I read the request. I do copy and paste; however, I never copy and paste prayers which I have not already said. This is my own little rule. I do tailor a lot of prayers to fit the situation of the person stating the intention, but the standard ones like the Our Father, Hail Mary, etc. get copied/pasted. Again, by the time I submit my post, the prayers are already said. Believe me, I doubt that there is much insincerity on the Prayer Intentions Forum. 🙂

For me, at least, it isn’t any different. I’m not sure about the OP.

The problem is the rapid fire, copy and paste. The “post as fast as the system allows” copy and paste. The “complain if the systems only allows you to post once a minute” copy and paste.

There are those of us that won’t ask for prayers because we look at how *some *post.

Thanks for the insight, everyone!

I am glad to see there’s hope of getting over my issue with it 😉 I just always thought it was a little silly, but if people are actually taking the time to pray and are pasting the prayer on the forum as a sign of it, I guess that’s alright in my book!

(and I was referring to pasting prayers into the “prayer request” areas of the forum, not copyright.)

Right, they are just posting the prayer as a confirmation of them saying it, to give the person comfort that they did say it.
