I printed pictures from Google Images and taped them to my wall. I also made Word documents of prayers from the internet and pasted a picture of something on one and gave it to someone.

Would any of these be copyright infringement? I’m asking here because I learned that it is a sin. (mortal, I think) I was reading recently about reproducing things is infringement. (I’m scrupulous)

Thank you

No, this is not illegal.

You cannot profit off these things (ie. sell them to someone else), but you can use them yourself.

Prayers are posted on the internet for people to use! No need to worry about this one 🙂

Thank you for your replies. I guess I had nothing to worry about. 🙂

For further reading, you should really resarch “fair use.” There are a lot more nuances to copyright law than you might think. It’s interesting reading.

Generally, if you have legally acquired something and make a copy for personal use you are fine.

Regarding google images, why not find out on the google images support site?

support.google.com/images/bin/search.py?hl=en&query=copyright&ctx=en:searchbox

And always check other sites which usually have a message about what can and cannot be done with images or text from their site.

Peace,
Ed
