Hey everyone, I’m stressing out about a few things. Maybe someone can help me.
I’m in a dance class at my college (it’s ballroom dance), and the instructor told me that he is not sure whether he is doing things in accordance with copyright laws. He does not have any particular license or permit from any copyright organizations.
Furthermore, he is going to have a dance party for the class (and all his other classes) which will be open to the public and will charge for tickets.
Both situations uses music on CD’s. No DJ’s or bands.
First off, anyone know whether these situations break copyright laws? I heard that educational purposes are sometimes exempted, so perhaps the class is ok.
However, if they are indeed wrong…
Must I stop going to class rather than going and using the questionable music? I’m certainly willing if it is God’s will, but i honestly don’t want to because it would hurt my grade severely (unless i managed to get a withdrawal).
Second, should I not go to the party in order to avoid these things?
thank you for your time.
