Methinks if it were true, the Egyptians or Jordanians, wishing to sell visas, would maximize world knowledge of it.

A chariot on the bottom of the sea is not evidence of its parting, or of the drowning of an army foolish enough to drive between the walls of water. It is evidence, if indeed it is a chariot axle and wheels, of a chariot being in the sea.

There is excellent and utterly fascinating archeological evidence associated with many biblical and apocryphal writings and there is more delight to be found, in my view, in a single page of the dead sea scrolls, or the scientific excavations of Herod’s palace, than in a thousand fanciful interpretations of this sort.

Indeed. Funny you should mention Herod the Great’s palace though, since Ehud Netzer actually found his tomb near one of his fortress/palaces (located in the Herodium hill complex) about five years ago.

No offense, but the coral formation actually looks like a giant mushroom to me. 😛

I’m just curious though. Let’s say for the moment that you are right and that this is really the Reed Sea of Exodus; in this scenario, where would the biblical Mount Sinai be located?
