Its wise with 16 million Italians in lockdown now.
 
Why has Italy been hit so hard with this virus,anybody heard?

I suspect the large number of tourists. When we were there there were a lot of Asian groups there.
 
I obviously don’t know for sure but my guess is very close contacts in daily relationship (very common to hug, kiss etc even among friends), crowded public transportations, and a general tendency to ignore rules (for example schools closed to avoid contact but many people decided to go vacation in sky resorts etc).
 
Early days, I really cant see other countries escaping it. Australia has begun having it run through teenagers in schools there. France is experiencing an upsurge and China is experiencing new cases from outside the country.
 
All Masses, weddings, funerals, even baptisms cancelled in Italy now apparently (as reported in one of the other threads). At the moment, this will not extend to Holy Week, but it would only have to be extended slightly. Which would be a great shame.
