Do they “count” if we are paid while performing them? I work in healthcare and do a lot of those while doing my job; is it still considered merciful or good per se, or does it not matter if you’re paid but just your intentions and what you put into it i.e. compassion?

Thoughts?

It sounds reasonable to me that it has to do with one’s caring attitude while tending to their patients.

Your employer compensates your for physical work performed in an excellent manner.
God compensates us for compassionate work done in a loving manner.
