Corporal Works of Mercy- Visit the imprisoned

To visit the imprisoned as a corporal work of mercy is understandable but does it always mean those who are incarcerated for a crime or can it mean the home bound or those who are mentally ill or something else?
 
Visiting the mentally ill or the home bound is an act of mercy pleasing to God regardless of whether it falls into this category. 🙂
 
Anyone who is bound by walls. This includes those who are bound by infirmities.

It can be great to visit a nursing home with little children. Great for the elders and great for the children.
