Is this American code? Am I missing something here in England? Is it a joke?
Yes, it is a joke.

I don’t know why Annie wants to ban them, but Dallas and Austin have horrible traffic patterns, and huge crowds of people who don’t behave themselves, nice as any part of Texas is.

I love the Cove because my best friend in the whole wide world lives there, but I am not really fond of Waco.

But you’ll notice my plug in one of the posts for double cream with strawberries after the Corpus Christi procession!👍

Evelyn,

Yes, it is a joke. Corpus Christi is a city in Texas, as are Dallas and Austin.

A helpful moderator always on hand to explain things American to us confused Brits. Keep up the good work.

In my parish, Corpus Christi processions are a no-no. Liberal pastor, etc. Sigh. In the future maybe…

Although I’m not sure of the reference, I believe that one of John Paul II’s recent writings specifically recommends the Corpus Christi procession. Benedict XVI had a magnificent one through the city of Rome.

Which part of London are you Joe? Surely there will be a big one at Westminster Cathedral? What about Brompton Oratory?

Not sure if you were referring to me? My name’s not Joe- but I couldn’t see who else it might be.

I imagine there will be at both those, but they are the exception, and my parish will never follow their lead.

Sorry Titus . I knew of course that Austin and Dallas were towns but only know Waco because of the sad loss of life there. What I did not know was that Corpus Christi was a town. Sorry to get your name wrong! Ev

That’s OK. I work a very lovely woman who was born in a place called Ipswich in a county called Suffolk, and if it wasn’t for her pronunciation and inflection (hate to call it an accent), I would have thought she was from Virginia, USA.

We haven’t had a procession, but I’m praying that we have one this year. One of our priests gave the most beautiful homily on the Feast of Corpus Christi last year, and he mentioned that it would be great to have one. He is one of the most reverent priests I have ever met and I know this is important to him, so maybe this year. . .
