At your Sunday Mass for the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, was the sequence Laud, O Zion (Lauda Sion) sung or recited?

We sang it in English – mostly lovely melody except for that weird modulation at the end of verses 3 & 4. Can’t remember who the composer is. 🤷

In spite of its odd melodic structure, I am so very grateful we had the hymn to use at all! 👍

There are only a few masses each year that have a sequence… I don’t understand why some parishes either don’t do it or do the short option. The extra 2 minutes to read it is not the end of the world

At our Corpus Christi procession on Thurday, the sequence was sung in Latin. Today, it was sung in English. Both lovely in their own way!

The shorter version was sung by the choir in English. I guess it would have been ok for the whole thing as the singing was pretty good.

I don’t believe I have ever heard it read or sung.

It wasn’t sung or recited. We did however, have a procession outside! 😃

The Sequence is option for the feast of Corpus Christi. From the General Instruction of the Roman Missal:

“64. The Sequence, which is optional except on Easter Sunday and on Pentecost Day, is sung before the Alleluia.”

Pentecost Day should have a Sequence, but not Pentecost Vigil.

My recording of the full Corpus Christi Sequence (from the Australian Lectionary) is 10 minutes 36 seconds, at youtube.com/watch?v=rCxKRVlKwTk .

At mass most of it was sung in latin by the choir but we sang the refrain “Lauda Sion Salvatorum” At the outdoor procession we sang the English hymn which was beautiful "Laud O sion thy salvation.

We had a lovely hymns at mass and at on the procession including :

Firmly I believe and Truly
Lord Enthroned in heavenly splendour
Sweet Sacrament Divine
We pray thee heavenly father
Jesus my Lord my God My all
O bread of heaven
Pange Lingua
Christ is made the sure foundation
Adoro te Devote
