Hi all,
I am curious if the Young Adult Director in my Diocese has committed a sin of corrupting the youth. The reason I suspect the YAD of this is that he has scheduled a controversial priest, whose personal facebook I have seen to show him liking Bernie Sanders as well as some very liberal Democrats. Also, this priest has been very vocal in supporting LGBT rights although it is in a state where we had our constitutional amendment to ban same-sex unions revoked by the Supreme Court. Yet when I suggested about having a priest from a Conservative organization, the YAD balked at the idea. I know that the YAD and many of the Diocesian leaders have supported liberal positions. Is the YAD guilty of the sin of corrupting the youth by allowing liberal ideas but not conservative ones.

It is not our business to determine if another person has sinned.

Catholicball17 you deserve an answer to your question. So I shall give it to you.

While we cannot judge someone else’s sins or condemn someone because of their sins we are allowed to make objective reasonable judgements. Which I believe that is your intention here. I don’t believe your intention is to arrogantly judge if someone is sinning for the sake of curiosity. I believe you want to know objectively if these things are sins or not. So here’s the Holy Spirit’s answer:

Objectively speaking the actions that particular priest has taken would be mortal sins because he believes things completely contrary to the faith and is proactively teaching them. Objectively speaking if the director knew of his background and deliberately chose him because of his corrupt views. Then yes objectively speaking it would be a mortal sin for the director. Why? Because he is engaging in and supporting heresy.

Notice though I said “objectively”. So based on our faith and morals those actions are objectively mortal if all the requirements are met for a mortal sin. Only God can judge the state of a persons soul so only God knows if there is true evil intent behind the directors actions.

Now that I have covered myself with legal language so as to guard against the snares of the evil one I will give you advice.

This is an atrocity that such a priest is still a priest. He is murdering his lambs by supporting and teaching corruption. Now, if you are in the state of grace you have the Holy Spirit strong within you. So, you need to be as big and as vocal and as annoying as possible. Pray non stop. Write the Bishop, write the Pope, write everyone under the sun who is a Godly person. Be actively vocal on this as well talking straight to their faces about these issues. We need to rid the Church of these back stabbing lucifers. I’m sick and tired of these men killing the lambs of God rather than feeding them truth. I teach 7th graders so I take this to heart. I feed my lambs I do not kill them.

Pray and do your part and the Holy Spirit will do the rest. You are the front line soldier right now. It is your job to take it straight to the devils face. Do your part like I have said and God will handle rest. But you are obligated as a soldier to smash the head of this serpent activity. Even if they are doing these things unknowingly it is still the work of the devil.

God Bless you. PM me anytime.
