Cosmic Liturgy?

I have read this term in the works of Scott Hahn and Benedict XVI, I think.

I cannot recall if they explain the term or not.

What does the term mean?

Well, we have:
  • an altar
  • A high priest
  • A Sacrifice
  • choir
  • candles
  • incense
  • prayers
  • servers in robes
Hmmmmmmmm, sounds like the Mass in Heaven, which is what we join in when we sing the Holy, Holy, Holy!!!
 
My mom read Dr. Scott Hahn’s book, the lambs supper. In that book, it talks about the Mass and the book of Revelation. Although I didn’t read the book, from what I got from my mom, I would say that “cosmic liturgy” would mean that the mass is also said in heaven as it is on earth.

In my opinion, the Heavenly Liturgy is the Cosmic Liturgy. When we sing the Sanctus, the “Holy, Holy, Holy” at Mass, we are joining with the angels and saints in the Cosmic Liturgy!
 
Well, Jim? Here’s your proof that persistent prayer pays off.

I googled Scott Hahn and Cosmic Liturgy and came across an article by Scott Hahn.

Here’s what Mr. Hahn says:
St. Josemaría saw creation as a great cosmic liturgy, offered to the Father by those “other Christs” in union with Christ the high priest.

Of course, who are those “other Christ’s”?

Well, I read on and here it is:
St. Josemaría taught that all human activity–political life, family life, social life, labor and leisure–should be restored to Christ, offered to God as a pleasing sacrifice, united with the sacrifice of the cross, united with the sacrifice of the Mass. He longed for a day when "in every place in the world there will be Christians with a dedication that is personal and totally free–Christians who will be other Christs."
 
But then again in his book, “Understanding the Our Father”, Scott Hahn describes the Cosmic Liturgy exactly as we first thought. It’s the heavenly liturgy. Israel imitated it, and the Catholic Mass imitates it, as a matter of fact, the Catholic Mass takes part in it.
 
And this comes from Scott Hahn’s Bible Study at his St. Joseph site:
*In the Eucharist we join ourselves to a cosmic liturgy, described in Revelation as a heavenly wedding feast.

As is appropriate for a wedding feast, we introduce the Communion Rite of the Mass by praying the family prayer that Jesus taught us*.

And he goes on further to say:
In the Mass, we’re blessed to be able to eat bread in the kingdom of God, as Jesus promised (see Luke 14:15). Indeed, in the cosmic liturgy of the Eucharist, the kingdom has come on earth as it is in heaven.

And finally:
These same images are found in John’s vision of the cosmic liturgy - the wedding feast of the Lamb (see Revelation 19:9); Jesus as the Word of God and the King of Kings (see Revelation 19:13,16); the kingdom of priests who reign with him (see Revelation 5:10; 20:6); the thrones of judgment (see Revelation 20:12); the “apostles of the Lamb” and the “twelve tribes of the Israelites” (see Revelation 21:10-14).

I will have to read your Notes several times.

I, too, googled it, but for some reason I did not get the same results.

I am reading “Cosmic Liturgy of Max. the Confessor” or something like that.

It does not seem to explain Cosmic Liturgy in simple language.
