Who says the U.S. is the “most violent nation in the world”?“most violent nation in the world” covers much more than just gun weilding criminals and lunatics.
Who came up with that statistic?

Not true.Because gun-related murders in the US number over 11,000. And gun-related death in the US (the proportion adjusted for population) is higher than anywhere else in the western world.
Let’s do that then:Not true.
politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/jul/23/facebook-posts/the-us-is-no-in-gun-violence-is-it/
An excerpt:
Because the U.S. is so big, it’s better to compare the frequency of firearm homicides per capita, usually expressed as firearm homicides per 100,000 in national population.
If the problem is the existence of guns, then Switzerland doesn’t fit the model because these fully automatic weapons are in the home and freely accessible.I still think Switzerland is different since they don’t have a stamding army and the arms are state issued for limited time with heavy registration and conditions and for a spefic purpose. The Swiss don’t talk about the right to bear arms. Note though they have a high suicide rate by gun (like the US)
I argue that it’s the drug war and welfare both of which encourage and subsidize certain lifestyles. But putting the gun issue aside, what then is the ultimate cause of so many gun murders in the US? Over 11,000 of them last year.
Who cares about gun homicide? It doesn’t make a difference to the victim whether it’s by gun or by knife or by any other weapon. Homicide is homicide.Lost sheep, I said the US was highest for gun homicides in the western world where it hs head and shoulder above every nation per capita. All the countries you mention are 3rd world ones.
Again, using only gun homicides is exceedingly disingenuous.Let’s do that then:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate
The US firearm death rates is 9 per 100,000
slightly behind South Africa at 9.41
USA 9
Switzerland 6.4
Canada: 4.78
France 3.0
Greece 1.5
Italy 1.28
Germany 1.10
Australia 1.05
United Kingdom 0.25
Japan 0.07
Looking at the table specifically at gun homicides the US is 2.98,
USA 2.98
Switzerland 0.58
Canada: 0.76
France 0.22
Greece 0.59
Italy 0.36
Germany 0.06
Australia 0.09
United Kingdom 0.04
Japan 0.02
and as for suicide by firearm the story is the same with the US leading the pack.
That’s what happens when peoples personal agendas drives the statistics rather than gathering stats and then determining what they all mean… bias vs unbiased.Again, using only gun homicides is exceedingly disingenuous.
No go ahead and bread it down by how the countries handle drug (hard drug ) prosecution, apprehension, etc, ect, etc and see how those stats look…Lost sheep, I said the US was highest for gun homicides in the western world where it hs head and shoulder above every nation per capita. How many ‘family’ shootings had marital discord or a 1 parent family first? Disfunctional family? How many ‘teens’ were gang members? Semantics is a curious thing, is it not?^Addendum.
Social and familial setting arguably plays a role in guns and there use or non-use on other people.
Case study in how statistics can be compiled to prove what you want. Crime in Milwaukee was reported by the MPD (Milwaukee Police Department) to be on a decline but the Milwaukee Journal’s investigative reporting (not the FBI) showed that Milwaukee’s crime was on the rise but misreporting in the police’s statistical processes invariably showed the opposite.
In the wake of another horrific national tragedy, it’s easy to talk about guns. But it’s time to talk about mental illness.
I live with a son who is mentally ill. I love my son. But he terrifies me.
A powerful story, and a scary one, that is definitely worth your time to read. Perhaps we need to put the focus on the area that is the problem, instead of blaming inanimate objects. How many people die in car crashes every day without any cry to get rid of cars, or restrict their use?A few weeks ago, Michael pulled a knife and threatened to kill me and then himself after I asked him to return his overdue library books. His 7 and 9 year old siblings knew the safety plan—they ran to the car and locked the doors before I even asked them to. I managed to get the knife from Michael, then methodically collected all the sharp objects in the house into a single Tupperware container that now travels with me. Through it all, he continued to scream insults at me and threaten to kill or hurt me.
To me, the ‘problem’ is the news constantly reporting negative things, making society have a negative outlook on itself. It magnifies the negativity greatly IMO.anarchistsoccermom.blogspot.com/2012/12/thinking-unthinkable.html

Maybe we should use the ammt of murders by the weapon of the Tahitian tribes to decide why societies use of them is out of control. People are MURDERED WITH THESE THINGS!!!Again, using only gun homicides is exceedingly disingenuous.
No saying the name of a state is not enough facts. Listing how many kids with violent records shot or got shot vs. kids that didn’t would be adequate.Connecticut enough facts for you?
By MY logic they should be treated like alchohol. Thousands less murders by GUNS!!! every year. But…we do blame drugs for the drug problem. By your logic they should be freely availble too?
The ‘limited time’ is until the man turns 45, which is when his term of military service ends… And even then, at the end of one’s term of service, you can purchase your gun from the government at almost no cost.I still think Switzerland is different since they don’t have a stamding army and the arms are state issued for limited time with heavy registration and conditions and for a spefic purpose. The Swiss don’t talk about the right to bear arms. Note though they have a high suicide rate by gun (like the US)

The good old USofA is still the highest for the all homicide rate, not just guns.No go ahead and bread it down by how the countries handle drug (hard drug ) prosecution, apprehension, etc, ect, etc and see how those stats look…
