the norm in the Latin Church is such

if you say “universal norm” then it would encompass the entirety of the Catholic Church. the other Rites do not have kneeling for communion
Yes, indeed, Choy, that’s an important point.

The Catholic Church is made up of 22 Rites, I think, only one of which is the Latin Rite (although I’d imagine it is the largest one).

Unless you want to start delving in intinctions and other forms of receiving, I suggest you stick with the Latin Rite. 🙂

actually there’s six Rites, but 22 sui juris Churches 😉

some sui juris Churches would have the same rite, like the UGCC and Melkite Greek would both be Byzantine Rite

yesterday i attended a Chaldean Mass. the Chaldean Rite is part of the Eastern Syrac Rite. although some people would kneed, i think traditionally they don’t. during consecration people were standing. after receiving Communion people returned to their pews and remained standing. even when people come in before the Mass, they would enter the pew, and stand to pray, before sitting. a few knelt, but i followed what most do and stood (when in Rome…)

i’m just pointing out that saying kneeling is the universal norm is not an accurate claim

in the past i’ve had the Priest place the Host in my mouth while i was saying “Amen”

sometimes you don’t need to make it very audible, but the priest or minister would be able to lip read you said Amen
I think the priest saw my lips move … but for some reason the server felt she needed to say it for me. Loudly. Like I did something wrong.

maybe they are trained that way. if they don’t hear someone say Amen, they will say it for you. my priest also mentioned that in his homily when he was telling people that he can’t give them Communion unless thay say Amen. that sometimes he has to say it for them, but instructs everyone that we should be the one saying it

The server? It seems the Amen police were in full squad that day. Pay your fine and keep the faith. :)🙂

we’ve been very tough on our priests for making mistakes and not following the rubrics. its good to know we’re being watched as well
