Ever since I read the article on THIS ROCK on different bible translations catholic.com/library/bible_translations_guide.asp
I’ve been dying to find the Cotton Patch translation! I found it online rockhay.tripod.com/cottonpatch/
Although of course a very bad translation in the theological sense (and even anti-Catholic in many places), I just can’t help but feel good and laugh my head off when I read it!
Dispite the craziness of his translation, I have to say that after reading Clarence Jordan’s biography, I have a lot of respect for him. He was a very brave man and worked hard for civil rights in the south during the 60’s, even risking his life.
Matthew 9:16 “Nobody ever uses new, unshrunk material to patch a dress that’s been washed. For in shrinking, it will pull the old material and make a tear. Nor do people put new tubes in old, bald tires. If they do, the tires will blow out, and the tubes will be ruined and the tires will be torn up. But they put new tubes in new tires and both give good mileage.”
